There is an 'always on' overhead LED light in my new Ram that shines down into the center console cubby.

Other than pulling the bulb, is there any way to turn this this OFF?

If gives a really annoying glare/reflection off the chrome trim ring onto the Pass side window at night and is really distracting, keep thinking there is a car there next to me.

TIA

Not really it is tied into the parking light circuit. Removing the bulb is a bit difficult, you have to remove the console from the headliner to do it. You could trace back the wiring using the techauthority website and cut or depin the appropriate wire from the appropriate connector.

That all said yours should not be on all the time, only when the parking lights are on.

fkn love that light! I have had 2 Rams so far and did notice that they are poorly placed, and they can be angled different. Mine does not reflect off that handle. Im wondering if you "re aim" the light it would fix your issue. But I have never tackled this before I would assume remove the headliner and finding the LED and messing with it would be a bit daunting. I have thought abotu it as mine tends to shine more to the left then center

The wire runs down the passenger side C pillar and is white with a green stripe. There is no way to turn it off. The light is on whenever your headlights or parking lights are on. I personally love the light but I don't have a chrome ring for it to reflect off of. As stated it's an LED bulb. I would just put a small piece of electrical tape over the hole or maybe one of those little round felt stickers you put on cabinet doors or furnture feet. They come in all different sizes. I bet you could go the the hardware store and find one that is a perfect fit.

Just stick something over it or plug the hole, easy method.

that's what I would do if it bothered me. Just cut out a small round piece of black electrical tape and cover the LED light.

This is exactly what I did. It wasn't bothering me enough to take anything apart. Tape works like a charm :)

Not sure what you are talking about this light is by design not adjustable, nor amiable. It is in its own molded housing that clips onto the console assemble and ist not meant to move at all.

Pull down the overhead console and just disconnect the connector going to it.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w2i9vtrOV4U

Having installed several of these consoles, I can tell you the plug that connects to that light is a PITA to remove, the way it snaps on makes it near impossible to disconnect it without cutting through the locking strip. The console is basically in two pieces the black and the gray. First you need to remove the black section using soft plastic panel removal tools. You start in the front and pull backward till the 2 metal snap clips release (this takes quite a bit of force so make sure you hold the gray section up with one hand or use an assistant or you could damage the headliner. The next thing would be to reach up and remove the LED bulb from the gray upper section which is a one piece socket / bulb. Then stick a small jewelers screw driver inbetween the connector and the tit that locks the connector to the socket, this will almost surely brake the locking strip which is not that big of a deal as these connectors do not like to let go anyway. then put the bulb back on the console (kind of a PITA) save it or discard it. These bulbs are almost impossible to buy or even find a part number for so I would keep it. Finally put the black section back up by putting the little **** on the side of it into the slots rotate it up and push in till the metal clips lock into place.

If you want to go through all that have at it, personally if it bothered me that much I would just depin the connector or better yet cut a nice round dot of electrical tape and cover it, its LED so no heat issue. Note this light is the only one in the console that is controlled by the headlight circuit and has its own pin in the connector. The location of that pin is different based on cab configuration.

I know its not by design meant to be aimed. my point was that they are not all the same in where they cast light. I was unsure if you were able to disassemble and mess with the light some to get it to cast light at a different angle.

You can turn that light off by rolling your dash dimmer knob over all the way to the left (full dim). That means your instrument cluster and radio will be at full dim but at least the little light that bothers you will be off. I found this out because I too noticed the reflection of that light on my passenger side window when I first got my truck. I run my gauges at full dim because they are too damn bright and noticed when I did that the light up in the overhead console went off.

That's one way to do I. I find that that makes the gauges too dim for me,ut to each hi own. Good point though

That light doesn't bother me. What bothers me is the chrome handle on my center jump seat. When the sun is just right it reflects right into my eyes. Idk why car makers use chrome or other reflective stuff where it will blind the driver at certain times.

Yes! I have been wondering about this for a while now. My drive home is in the dark on country roads and I always think a car is coming when I hit an intersection due to this exact reflection.

this. I have also been blinded by the Ram head on the steering wheel. NOTHING, and I mean NOTHING in my truck (Express) is chrome except for those 2 things... and they both blind the ****balls out of me when the sun hits them.....
