P0001 Fuel Volume Regulator Ctrl

I have an 09 Ram 1500 Laramie 189,000 miles that has a check engine light on and although the onboard code checker shows nothing my code reader shows code P0001 Fuel Volume Regulator Ctrl open.
I have done exhaustive research on this topic and can find very limited results ranging from a regulator on the fuel rail to the top of the fuel pump.
Has anyone had this problem and have any suggestions.

Did you clear the codes ...and if so, did it re-appear? How soon afterwards (if it reappeared)? Does the engine run ok?

Sometimes codes can be a one-time fluke, due possibly to an intermittent wire connection or another unknown reason... (I suspect you already know that)

Yes cleared codes, immediately came back and it has 189,000 miles on it so I'm just wondering if anyone has had this problem.

I haven't had that issue (yet), hopefully others will chime in. Here's what came up on a search. I would start by checking the connector and wiring .. the 'easy' and simple things. Then maybe a fuel pressure test. What have you checked so far?:

What causes the P0001 code?

The fuel volume regulator code may have several causes:
  • Disconnected plug to the fuel regulator
  • Possible corrosion in the sensor connector
  • Damage to the sensor wiring to the ECM
  • Leaking fuel pressure regulator
  • Damaged fuel pump
  • The ECM is damaged

Checked nothing so far, I have been exhaustively looking online with very little results an I don't know exactly where it is, on the fuel rail or on the fuel pump in the tank.

Check the fuel line rear of engine, driver's side (2nd video link below). It could be your fuel pump is weak too, given the miles.

IDK how DIY you are but here are some fuel press basics.

If you're not real DIY, probably taking to the dealer or your trusted shop would be the best. Esp if you needed to replace the fuel pump (managing a tank partially full of fuel can be a bear!). If you are pretty mechanically inclined and DIY, you might be able to rent the pressure test gauges from Autozone or OReilly's (or buy from Harbor Freight). If it were my pickup, I'd install a Mopar replacement pump if it were weak and needed to be replaced. A NAPA or Bosch/Delphi fuel pump would be the next ones down further down the list. LOL. But that's just crazy me.... :)

TY, I already saw that video but it was the fuel pressure sensor not the fuel volume regulator, which I can't figure whether its the one in the tank or on the fuel rail.
Also the truck cranks and runs fine, doesn't stall or die so it doesn't appear to be the pump but the
shrtft is about .8% and the longft2 is about 4.% which seems to be in range.
So I am not seeing anything terribly amiss.
