P0344 Code not clearing

I pulled a P0344 camshaft position sensor code also an oil pressure out of range code P1524 showing up. I replaced the camshaft position sensor. Check engine light immediately went off. It came back on. Pulled same code. Installed new oil pressure switch. That did not work either. Oil level is good. Oil pressure is running in the 10 psi per 1000 rpm threshold although it does not get over 40 psi at all and gets as low as 15 psi at idle, according to the factory digital gauge. The analog gauge reads slightly below the middle of the spectrum. The most peculiar thing is the traction control light came on when the check engine light first showed up. Traction control light is intermittent now.

Possibly oil pump or trash in oil pick up line?

What year is your truck?

Just cause you got a those 2 codes doesn’t meant that’s the part you need to be replaced, still has to be diagnosed.

There used to be a common failure of the oil control valve screens falling apart and causing cam timing to be off. It was most common from about 2010-2012. When they failed they would cause those dtc’s.

2012. Where is the screen located?

Someone said I needed to get the PCM flashed. Which I guess could be related to the TCS light.

This engine is less than 5k miles. Got it from LKQ with "all the common issues fixed".

Lost my first engine to sludge build up and metal shavings after about 160k miles. I was told that those engines have undersized ports for drainage. Newer engine supposedly the issue is addressed.

Just a little more info. My first LKQ replacement came apart on the lower end and threw a push rod out the side if the block of engine #2.

The oil control valve is underneath the truck brake manifold. It’s held in with one 10mm bolt.

This is different than the oil pressure switch? I assume it is since you didnt zay oil pressure switch lol. Hopefully that helps. Thanks.

Yes it is different, the oil control valve is what controls the variable cam timing.

Ahh thats the attitude! Ive had cars like that in the past, eventually one of two things wins. The car falling apart, or sanity.
