So I am chasing a p0441 code. It’s the one and only code.

I changed the evap purge solenoid and threw a new gas cap on it. I’ve been driving it for a day and a half the light is still on. I don’t want to clear the light I like to see it shut in it’s own . But still on

What else could be throwing this code? Or could it just be the light hasn’t cleared on it’s own yet

KINDA depends. Is the code in the temp or confirmed codes or in the permanent code stored? If not in perm, I would delete it. With my Blue Driver I can clear all codes except permanent ones. But then I only have a code reader, not a diagnostic/tester tool. All above IMHO.

With an emissions DTC like this the PCM is looking for 3 good trips to turn off the MIL and 40 good trips to self-delete the DTC. If the PCM does not see 3 good trips which means when the PCM monitors the DTC set condition and if it does not see the DTC pass 3 times it will not turn off the MIL. Three good trips can take longer than a day and a half. It could take a week depending on your driving habits.

What you need to know is the set condition for the P0441 DTC. If you know the set condition then you can operate the vehicle inside those parameters to force the PCM to check for a good trip. P0441 occurs when the PCM does not detect purge flow so either there is not enough engine vacuum at the purge solenoid or their are no vapors for the purge solenoid to allow through or the PCM is not turning on the purge solenoid to allow flow. There are several things to verify.

Will your scan tool allow you to see if the EVAP system is pulling a vacuum on the fuel tank? The system doesn't actually measure flow. It looks to see if it can energize and de-energize the purge solenoid and then it wants to see a pressure drop on the fuel tank by reading from a pressure sensor/transducer. Those sensors will output a corresponding voltage range.

Could be a lot of things. A line leak somewhere, etc. Can you smell fuel vapors anywhere on the system?

To me it's worth paying a shop an hour's worth of labor to smoke test and troubleshoot.

I've been chasing this code for years now. I have replaced the purge solenoid, gas cap, tank pressure sensor, and I have a filler neck filter I'm going to try next. It comes and goes and can be off for months before coming back. Everything checks out with a scan tool as well.

Yeah going to give it 5 days and see if it clears.

or maybe just clear it myself and see if it comes back haha
If you have a check engine light I would clear it. Then keep checking it daily after that, P0441 has tendency to come back as a pending code and then clear itself after a day or two....

When you say keep checking it you mean plug the scanner in everyday and see if it comes back pending

I have an old Diablo Trinity I use as an engine monitor so and it's a code reader as well. Makes it easy to check periodically if that code is pending...

When you replaced the Gas Cap, did you use a the correct Mopar Cap
Rams can be fussy
Yes I bought a dealer one.

also could I have tripped this code cause I usually fill my truck up with it running ?

Its possible if you filled it while its in the middle of a purge cycle that it tripped that code. However I would think it would pop a Large Leak code.......

Just clear the code and see if it re-occurs. The EVAP system is the automotive equivalent of the human appendix. I've removed my EVAP system and there is no effect on MPG or the dreaded Check Engine light
