has anybody else had an issue with paint cracking around your radio antenna I’ve had my truck 5 months now and I was washing it this weekend and noticed a split in the paint clearly caused but the antenna causing the fender to flex at highway speeds I’m hoping the bumper to bumper will cover this it’s a 2016 with 20,000 miles. Anybody else have this problem or something similar fixed under warranty?

To me, that looks like someone tried to fix something and did not do a good job. However, paint is covered under warranty, getting them to do it is another story. A lot of us have some paint issues on our trucks.

My fault I should have noted that I put some touch up clear coat on it to keep water and stuff from getting under the paint and making it worse should they decide not to fix it that was my first reaction the picture was an after though haha

My truck has the exact same crack in the paint that I found after seeing this post!

I’m interested to see what comes of reaching out to your dealer

I’m also afraid that it’s minor now but after prolonged exposure to water that my paint will peel/bubble

I called my local ram dealer and they told me to bring it in and let them have a look at it but I do believe it’s the antenna catching wind and flexing the fender and causing the paint to split my advice would be cover it with some clear touch up paint just to keep all the garbage out of it and making it worse

Yes, I have the same issue.....2017 Ram 1500. I noticed an approximate 2 inch linear crack in the paint at the same place, and it is due to the flex in the the metal of the fender. From what I can tell, there is no support for the antenna other than being attached directly to the fender, and when the antenna swirls in the wind or you go over a bump like a railroad track etc, the antenna movement flexes the metal. A friend of mine works at a body shop, and he said the metal gets fatigued from this motion. I am waiting on a response from the FDC as to what they will or will not do. After the issue is corrected, the only solution I can see is to put on a short antenna or have the body shop somehow place a support.

this is mine. branded under E2 name at Canadian Tire in Canada with a different part number than on the scosche website. I don't listen to much radio except for winter traffic emergencies, but I am pulling in fm and am fine. fm's usually don't go past about 45 miles. when i go on my lake trip next week I'm going to see how far this one pulls. I am 30 minutes away from the a cluster of fm transmitters and i can get all of those clean.
