Parallel shifter

Is is possible to wire switches in parallel with the Gear +/_ buttons on the steering wheel. Would like to add a consol "Shifter" (maybe just a large industrial two-position spring-return toggle switch) to bump the gears up and down (like you do with the Auto-stick) rather than doing it with those tiny butons.

There's a thread around the forum somewhere that had a few people ask pale shifters from another FCA vehicle successfully, but it's not something we have done/looked into.
