Trying to get crystal clear on my payload.

Sticker on truck says max gvwr 10,000 lbs

Gawr front: 6000 lbs

Gawr rear: 6500 lbs

Truck scaled at

Front: 5220

Rear: 3320

Total: 8540

So is my payload really only 1,460lbs even though I have way more room on the axles?

There is a payload sticker on the truck with the tire into that says max payload 1,573 lbs.

Seems so low for 2500 truck.

Am I unfortunately reading this all correctly?ecdd5490a726557dee725d84a41ee9b7.jpg39c7bde8eca5024e1f10a38b54821f48.jpg33586eec294c4c7edd95a744975284fa.jpg

Any chance we can get better info on the truck? Your profile says 2015 ecodiesel 1500

That's probably about right with a 2500 MC diesel. 2500 diesels don't have much higher payload than a 1500 and the mega cab adds even more weight. My 2500 6.4 has a payload about 2900lbs. Subtract about 800-900 for the diesel and that would be about 2000-2100lbs. My truck weighs 7240 with 1/2 tank of fuel and me in it. That's 1300 heavier than mine.

As for the axle weights I can't answer that.

It's the 10k gvwr that is hurting your payload, my 3500 with the same rear axle and tires as your truck has a 3981 payload and a 12,300 gvwr, other than the rear suspension it's the same truck, ram does the low gvwr on 2500's because some states tax you on a truck over 10k gvwr

Payload is gross vehicle weight - base weight. So your trucks base weight is 8427.

Yes, the Gross axle weight rating will be more than 10000 in the case of your truck for a total of 12500.

But as you add weight it goes to both axles...and as you can see you are pretty close to the front axle already with that heavy Cummins. Only 780 lbs till it is over.

So, as this is an ongoing controversy on the internet, yes, you have a bit of wiggle room on your 1573 lbs payload...but not near as much as it seams.
