I have a bad PCM on 2012 ram 1500 ST 4x4 5.7 heml. Is the PCM specific to that exact year model? Can any pcm from a 4th gen be used and programmed?

Whats it doing that you think the PCM is bad? its one of the most miss diagnosed parts they dont often fail.

So i thought the alternator-was bad. Im im on the second one. Changed the voltage regulator plug. New battery and battery post terminals. Fuses are good and so is the grounds. Idk what else to check. Mechanic said probably the pcm, but he will need to test it when he can work it in. I don’t know what else to check. The alternator isn’t charging. There is a 60 day back order on the pcm’s. They only offer new and no more refurbished. Dealership said that. i don’t have 1500$ to spend on a new pcm. Was trying to find a cheaper option.
