So what do you guys recommend from these 2 oils?
I have a 14 Ram 5.7 and I am going to do my first oil change soon. I always run Royal Purple on all my other cars but this truck is still on the factory fill and the manual recommends Pennzoil or Shell since they meet the MS-6395 requirements and RP says they meet MS-6395T. So is that a problem?
I was thinking what you guys think between RP synthetic 5W20 or Pennzoil Ultra Platinum 5W20? I am going to run a OEM Mopar Filter on it still.
Thanks

Every owner has their own opinion and ideas! I have mine as well!

I am going to give you my opinion-->Stick with Pennzoil Products!
I have nothing against RP!

Your New 5.7L will live a long life with NO oil related issues With Pennzoil as long as you do the Proper OCI with a Good Filter! Do not Neglect that Air Filter!

If you want to run something Royal Purple try their Filters, some of the best filters made. They took Moly out of Royal Purple, I would use Ultra for sure. Read the syn thread.

Mole Basics

Virgin Oil Analysis Royal Purple

See the average Moly content of synthetic oil around 62PPM next to where RP shows zero PPM.

Penzoil Ultra molybdenum 68PPM plus higher calcium and TBN. The most impressive stat about Ultra is the Volatility, mass % loss, or NOACK. The lower the better, and this oil has the best numbers only duplicated by top shelf oils like Redline.

You can see most OTC oils additive packages here.

Now, if you want a beer recommendation I can do that as well. Lagunitas little sumpin sumpin, shut the front door this stuff is so good. Burla now gives bonus recommendations free of charge. It isn't a light beer at all, but if you want a great bitter ale try their "nighttime". I drink the hell out of this chit. I don't care for their IPA, but these three are crowd pleasers.

Have a good day.:favorites13:

U do realize these trucks come factory filled with pennzoil yellow bottle as the factory fill right?...the "synthetic" mumbo jumbo is useless unless you need the cold flow or the extreme high temp capabilities....dont waste your $$$ .....bob is the oil guy is good reading...
