Hi there! I have a 2022 PW. I did the S&B intake because I like the looks of it. I also have a cat back exhaust. I like the sound of it. I did these things for a little more HP's and don't care what others think. At the end of the day it is my truck and I will do what I want to it! I suggest you do the same. :) Oh and post it when you are complete!
I was thinking the same thing but came here for the knowledgeable answers of which brand of each item would be best. I think I've now been turned off of spending $800+ for not much gain and only possibly a bit of throttle response.

I bought a big V8 so I wouldn't have to mess around with it for more power, but I think what most folks are telling you is you'll spend a lot of $$$ for very little power return. If you are looking for ways to justify spending money and/or tinkering, nobody is telling you not to...just setting expectations. There's no low hanging fruit on these trucks for power on the cheap, aside from adding stickers. Stickers, as everyone knows, are 10-15hp each and require no supporting mods.

Remember any filter that flows more air is probably going to flow more dust as well. There's no free lunch here, and if you're actually using it off road do you care more about reliability and longevity or about 2-3 more hp? Awhile back I posted https://www.ramforum.com/threads/engineer-tests-air-filters.213498/ with a video of an engineer with calibrated dust (yes, it's a thing) and a test rig that did a very detailed test of various filters. IMO, it's worth the watch if you're interested in where you personally want to draw the line between free flow and filtering ability.
Ya, like I said earlier in the thread I think I'm just getting used to the power now. Thought the same as well that I wouldn't need more power, and I don't really, but so far towing about 6k pounds, which it did with ease, to have a bit more power so it could tow something heavier with almost the same ease would be great. Do you have some of those stickers .

I've seen filter study videos like that and it makes sense. I just noticed the air box says use a dry filter which I was going to anyway if possible. I did ask too why filter would be recommended but no response.

Factory air box and tube flows as well as the aftermarket stuff with the added benefit of already being a “cold air intake”. All the other cold air intakes aside from S&B pull air from the engine compartment, so that’s snake oil for sure.

Jury is out IMO on throttle bodies. I’ve been tempted by Moe’s 87mm TB, but everything I read is that there is no real increase in power, but a noticeable difference in throttle response (which makes sense).

I have ARH long tube headers and Magnaflow cat back with a Hemifever tune, and it really woke up. My 16 has the 6 speed and I run 37’s with 5.13 gears, and the truck is quicker than a 7300lb gas truck has any right to be.
The AFE Momentum GT connects to the under hood "cold air intake" scoop which is why I was looking at that one but a lot of others went S&B so that's why I was asking about brands and why that one.

From what Wild one said the ported throttle body is bigger than the intake manifold so it really isn't going to do much. Also now you and he have said the air box flows well so really it isn't going to add much power as much as throttle response. Which could be fun too but not worth the money I don't think.
Ya those headers would be awesome but a bit pricey I think and I definitely can't do a tune that would void the warranty.

I went with an S&B intake cause I put one on my General and it made a lot of difference.
( 5 or 10 HP makes a big difference on something that only makes 100)
Figured I'd try one on the PW.
I got rid of the muffler and resonator and put on a 12" glasspack about the same time.
Don't know if it makes anymore HP#s but it sure has better throttle response and sounds awesome...
Frankly, better acceleration is all I'm after anyway cause I'm sure I don't use all the HP and torque it made stock.
As far as CAI are concerned I like the S&B because it uses the factory intake scoop and as others have pointed out that's a pretty good design...
It's easy to do a visual inspection of the filter every time I check the oil cause of the big clear window on top.
Easy to pull off the massive cone filter and blow it out every oil change...
If I ever get a new truck ( hopefully never) I'd get another...
Didn't realize that one connects to the scoop. I meant to mention before also that I thought I saw a video from Banks that disproves some of S&B's claims. I think it was only about air flow so I don't think it was only about diesels.

For me if I want more power I will add a tank of premium fuel and choose performance mode on the programmer

No busted exhaust studs?!

No, but I did my long tubes at 40 or 60k miles, I don't remember off hand, it was about 4 years ago and I'm at about 114k miles now.

The biggest thing you get from aftermarket "cold air intakes" is more intake noise, which is the main selling point for me if I were to get one.

But as far as performance, I don't really know if those actually do any better, because there has been some debate as to whether conical filters, in the sizes typically used in these CAI's actually provide more or better flow than a panel filter replacement, especially when naturally aspirated.

Intake noise is a selling point?!?!!!

Its a deal killing point imo. I’d probly live with it if i gave another 100 horses of feel good power lol

The autmotive industry has come so far in terms of NVH, everything is just so quiet nowadays. I like hearing the engine in the cab...nothing annoying, just wanna know its up there doing something. lol Eventually I'll be cleaning up the intake manifold (trimming the useless stuff off and cleaning it up a bit) so that its not so ugly when I just remove the covering with all the foam backing off.

thats one thing i love about the truck, i can be inside and hit the remote start...i might not always hear the two horn beeps, but ill darn sure hear the remore thunder as she comes to life

the duster is even better, sometimes ill pick the wife up for lunch, and i dont even need to call her, she can hear it idle through 6 inches of poured concrete

Anyone try the flexible dipstick instead of bending and re-bending?

Not to start an argument . Lets take the AFE mach 2 dry CAI. AFE has posted gains of 20 plus hp/trq on a stock 2020 5.7l Ram on their dyno. It draws the air from outside in front of the grille using the stock bottom half of the air box. I would like to know if anyon has done a dyno comparison on the two. I have this AFE intake. Don't know if it makes more noise because driving my Borla ATAk C/B most likely cancels out any intake noise.
