Before anyone starts in with the "they're cheap junk" "only get Kickers" "don't waste your money" BS... I grew up **** poor and I don't have the life I have now because I throw money out the window. I heard people talk about upgrading the door speakers but I just couldn't justify $200 for the speakers I wanted. Not all of us need or want the most expensive everything and I appreciate it when someone tells me about something good that's affordable and worth the money. I know Pioneers aren't top end and I also know I'm no audiophile, I just wanted a good upgrade for not a lot of money.
First I swapped out the 3.5 Dash speakers for some Memphis Audio's and it made a huge difference. Made so much of a difference with the stock NON Alpine head unit, I thought it would be enough. Was in Best Buy and they had the Pioneer TS-G690's on sale for $25 a pair. Looked up the reviews on their website and Crutchfield and they had good reviews and even had some 5 star reviews from RAM owners. Got 2 sets and the wiring adapters for $70 and figured if they sucked, I could return them.
MAJOR improvement! If anyone's looking, they made a day and night improvement and it sounds great. I was actually surprised that it made as much of a difference as they did. As with the other upgraded speaker installs, you have to turn the treble way down and crank the bass up and your golden! They do bump hard enough that I can't see a need for a sub, but I'm not a bass head. Just thought I'd would throw this out there in case anyone was looking for a great upgrade at a great price... Well worth the $70 and hour of my time to install them.
