Could also be a ujoint that has gone bad too

Yep he might wanna shake the **** out of the drive shaft and sometimes that don’t tell the story. I’d swap all of them to a 1350 u joint. Stronger and serviceable too

I’d look closely at the drive shaft. I had a bone stock 12 Ram that had a shake and the drive shaft balancing weight had came off. How? I have no idea. It was a short bed base model tradesman. Damn I hated that truck!!!

I was thinking the same. Look for dents or a cleaner area on the driveshaft where a weight might have been.

12 was a bad year for the 1500. I hated mine

I love the truck. Have no other issue other than this shaking.

I did check the driveshaft for a lost weight and it seems fine. I shook everything down again last night and I did notice some excessive play in the drivers side CV axle. Which could definitely cause a shake.

So I guess I’ll replace that. Are there better CV axles I should buy?? I prefer to upgrade a part if I have to replace it anyway.

Really appreciate all the help!!

If you replace one cv shaft do them both at the same time (if the wallet will allow).
As far as a better shaft I’d do a search.

I don’t know how to do a link other than open them. But this is a badass cv shaft

I think based on all the info in this thread you just need to take apart the entire truck and place it on the ground piece by piece and rebuild it. 10/10 would work.

Silly kids these days... No sense of adventure....lol

You mentioned getting the alignment done 2x, and it's still not true, which means something is not allowing the parts to hit the comfort zone.... Also go try a different shop, because the first shop should be able to pinpoint the issue by looking at the alignment details, before trying to make any adjustments to the vehicle..lol

Have you inspected the little things in life yet? Things like ball joints, tie rod ends, control arm bushings, hub bearing assemblies, sway bar links & bushings, torsion bars, coil spring seats, shock bushings, double check that brakes are releasing properly and not dragging, check parking brake, inspect the brake booster, check the axles, the differential gears, rack & pinion, steering box, steering column, and inspect the motor and transmission mounts also... I am not saying that you haven't double & triple checked these parts already, but never hurts to look again....

My biggest issue is that the shop you got the alignment from, is obviously not doing their pre-alignment inspection correctly... In my opinion, for if they had been doing that pre-alignment inspection, then they would have told you that it couldn't be aligned until the issue at hand was corrected.... Which they just happily took your money, and didn't bother to give you the service you were paying for.. or didn't care enough to inform you about anything if they did see something wrong... so do a visual inspection of the rubber components is where I would start, and just go down the line double checking any thing that connects or interacts with the suspension..
The only other option I could see doing just to save faith is swing the truck through the dealership, and toss them some dough to do that inspection for you.... Hope this helps out.

Hey everyone! I really hope someone can help before I go buy a Ford! Haha (Kind of not kidding though)

I have a 2012 Ram 1500 Sport. Only 45k miles. I had a 4” RCX suspension lift and I added a 1.25” body lift and then I added adjustable Bilstein shocks up front set at 1.8” I believe and a small rear spacer to level it out. I also added JBA upper front control arms.

I also run 20x14 Anthem Gunners and 35x12.50 AMP Terrain Attacks.

I’ve had the wheels balanced 4 times and have done 2 alignments. The alignment is still not right though (some mechanics don’t know their a** from a hole in the ground!) ..... But I am getting a very bad shake!! Feels like driveline shake to me?

Can anyone tell me what to check or where to begin?? I thought if I bought the driveshaft drop for a RCX 6” it would help, but Rough Junktry said the drop brackets are the same on 4” and 6” ... So I’m lost.

This might sound obvious but did they install concentric rings in your aftermarket rims? I had this happen on a couple of my cars/trucks after I installed wheels and tires. The rings fixed my shake and vibration.

After all the lift mods you've done, you may have a driveline angle issue. You said under heavy acceleration the shake seems to be less which would indicate to me that when the rear axle torques under acceleration that changes the angle of the rear diff. Have someone check to see if the angles at the u-joint and rear diff cancel each other out.

How many miles were on your truck BEFORE lift work was done.
At what speed(s) are you getting shaking issues. (this CAN determine things easier)
Do you see/feel the steering wheel shaking... or do you feel the shake only within the seats. (or both)

When the tires were balanced, did you watch each tire/wheel to see if it was spinning true on the balancer machine.
Did the wheel weights get installed in the correct place on the wheels. (road force balancers are no joke, they do work)
Did you look into concentric adapters for the wheel to hub spacing. (measure the wheel hub hole, and measure the hub, this will tell you if you need the spacers)

Did you install the correct shocks for your particular lift. (just because you added longer shocks dosen`t mean you bought the right shocks - valving is everything)

Have you gone thru the truck suspension lift parts to make sure nothing has shifted, or came loose.
How old are the tie-rod ends. Proper wheel alignment for a lifted truck.

Get this truck to a professional shop that does lifted trucks for a business.
Your going to be into some labor money to fix this issue.
Wanna play, your gonna pay.

Just my own opinion...
when you do lift kits, make sure its a complete tuned kit, otherwise,
when mixing different brand components, you end up where your at, at this point, when installing mixed components on a used truck.

Personally, i think you`ve got a lot of things in the mix thats causing your problem... you`ve got a loose truck... seek a lifted truck specialist.
We can only speculate what your problem is. Its just a matter of thoughts and opinions at this point of the game. But we can only try to help regardless.

Yeah I’ve checked everything. Which is how I found a small leak in my CV axle. I got it aligned again and it at least drives straight now! But not all shake is gone.

Supposedly the wheels are hub centric. I don’t think they are

This is what I think the issue is. But all the drop brackets are in place and the CV angles are perfect and the rear driveshaft look good. The front driveshaft does seem to be at a pretty bad angle to me at least.

The shaking is in the wheel and the seats. Literally everywhere.

The balance is now done correctly. It wasn’t the first 3 times though!

We looked into adding hub rings but it’s too tight.

Yes I ordered the shocks from JBA Off-road and he knows what he’s doing.

Proper wheel alignment for a lifted truck?! Where do I find these specs??

And finally I cannot find a “Lifted Truck Specialist” in my area. The only shops I know of are complete morons.

Thanks for the help,
Gary

Did you ever figure out what was causing your shaking?
