in the last couple of years I have had Toyo AT2, AT3 and RT's, Cooper AT3, ST Maxx's, Falken AT3w, Duratracs, BFG KO2's and probably some I have forgot about. I have a tire addiction. We are really lucky because there are a lot of good truck tires out there. Of the tires above I named I have had multiple sets of Toyo AT2 and RT's and Cooper ST Maxx's. Other than the Duratracs I would have no trouble with getting any again.

How is the ride and handling on those HD tires? Thanks

I haven't messed with air pressures yet, I just bought a ten ply BFG up 2 sizes from oem, To be honest it is plenty rough compared to low psi oem. However, you get an incredible range of air pressures you can mess with to get the sweet spot. HD tires you can go something like 30-85psi as a range. I also went down in rim size, but the ride is still rougher then oem on 20's. I also have a heavy bumper and that also adds to it. But, I'd expect a little rougher ride on p rated stuff, and that is my experience. I'd still do it over though, the juice is worth the squeeze as I tow and use my truck like a truck on occasion. It is a nice feeling knowing you have hd tires.

Check out tire rack comfort charts when buying any tire. You have to look up the tires you are considering.

Last year I put KO2’s on the PW to replace the BadYear Duratrac. Very happy with the traction, balance, quiet ride.

This year I removed a brand new set of Generals from my Tahoe and replaced them with KO2 as well. I’ve yet to buy an unsatisfactory tire from Michelin / BFG.

The KO is not a great mud tire of course. There’s the KM for that application.

I have a legendary take on BFG's and muddling, I'd say I can tell you they are definitely better then you think. Long long story, but I out mudded a truck with mt's on bfg at's. The story ends, no lie, I made it through the wetter part of the swamp and he was getting towed out. Maybe a one off experience, but my bfg's also look as aggressive as a mt and yet are quiet on the freeway. Honestly, I don't see how they did that, but I'm sold.

I also had 70k miles on them and I didnt measure tread but there was still tread and in fact no bald spots. So when you have this experience, you become biased I guess. Pretty impressed with what bfg's has done for me, and I didn't even touch on the fact I went skiing every weekend in snow season and never had any issues.

I've ran a lot of tires AT and MT. You can find 3 of them in less than 3 years just here. And that's on my truck only. I always tend to document how they tire behave performn and feel to keep it honest for me. Only tire I keep coming back to is BFG KO2.

Currently running the C rated ones 113 load index, BFG 315/70/17 that BFG designed for the 2017-2020 Raptor

Why? 3pmsf certification, decent weigth, 3 ply sidewall (for offroading in my case) , S speed rating and because I've never tried the C ones before :)

l like how KO2's perform in the rain or snow, love their traction and handling in packed dirt and loose sand, rutted trails and washes with rocks and I continue to like their looks over other options and i like how they wear. I'm on my 6th set of KO2's now. I may try other tires looking for something new in between but I keep coming back to these ones something I haven't done with any of the other brands I've tried. In my opinion KO2's are the best overall for what I want my tires to do for what I do with my 4x4 vehicles that are also daily drivers

Until a couple years ago I have run nothing but BFG AT's (KO2) since the mid 70s when they came out . Since I stayed with the OE 20" wheel on the last 2 Rams I had to switch to the Nitto Terra grappler which was 20lbs lighter per tire and did not cause a 65mph and on vibration . It was not really a tire issue but the weight of the tire seem to bring out a vibe in my 14 that I eventually gave up looking for . On my 17 I did not even try the heavier tire I bought another set of the Nittos. They are not as aggressive as the KO2s but I can live with that and not have any issues . Its not my off-road vehicle anyway

Anybody else out there running General (Continental Tire owns) Grabber ATX? Was top-rated in Tire Rack. I know Tire Rack doesn't carry every brand, but still best, largest rating site I've found.

I can vouch for accuracy of large sample sizeTireRack Truck Tire Ratings.png tribal wisdom.

I guess my answer would be different depending on usage. I had cooper at/3's before on my jeep and it was ok I guess, really roudy as they wore. Great all terrain and I was never short on traction though MPG took a hit and they didn't ride that well either.

For a luxury cruiser tire, I'll stick with Michelin, just put a set of Michelin Defender LTX MS on and they are awesome. Quiet, buttery smooth, great traction (even in snow which is important where I live) and doesn't kill my MPG. They are extremely pricey though, so there's that...

Pretty amazed by these results so far, keep them coming. Fairly good sample size shows Falkens way out front, and basically 5 brands tied second by a vote, BFG, Toyo, Cooper, Nitto, and Michelins. I guess I should have put Generals instead of micky's, the last board I was on was a Jeep forum, so they have a lot of Mickeys over there. I thought we had more Goodyear guys on board, I'm sure that number will rise, but imo the fact oem goodyears are so bad hurts them on resale their top of the line tire. I guess I'm a little surprised at michelins, I run them on the wife's car but I figured truck guys would run something more brute like. Wife's car is due, I'm gonna see what falken line suits her. I wouldn't run bfg's on a rav 4, I might end up back at michlen, dont know for sure. Anything else I should look at for a rav 4? Just needs to be good in the rain, cheaper the better.

Tire rack reviews talked me into bfg's for the wifes car as well. Falkens 3.5 stars, both bfg's for her vehicle 5 solid stars. Less then 20 bucks difference, and much cheaper then the michelins I went with last time. but hey I kept an open mind, maybe falkens suv tire isnt as good as their truck tire. Falken sincera is the only tire falken has showing for the rav 4, besides wild peak but zero reviews on wildpeak for a rav 4, all other options 100's of reviews, wildpeaks must too aggressive for a 4 banger rav 4, seams like nobody is running them.

Cooper Tires - Discoverer HT3 , I love these and run a 285/70/17. Load range E. really quiet, great hyway tire and last a long time. But not so much for real off roading !! 95% of my driving is hyway so they work for me. :driver:

Moderate climate highway guys love Michelins because they wear like iron. No doubt - living in Siberia, not enough traction in winter seasons and mud. Unless you're rich and keep two sets of tires and rims.

Michelin Defender LTX's.
Capable in light snow, obviously need 4x4 mode engaged however
Made in USA, Smooth, Quiet, Crazy Grip in wet (I haven't had these tires plow or understeer) and rated for higher speeds, holds good amount of lateral G's when cornering even in wet
I bought them used for 80% life left
Great factory warranty
Last a really long time
Michelin is always doing promotions and rebates too from their website.

After using many different tire brands and models, professionally as well as personal, I want nothing but NITTO on my vehicles.

I have the continental terraincontact HT excellent tire. i also had the kumho crugen ht 51 also a very good tire. great traction and manners for both. i had a 4 inch spike go through the kumho and it was fixed by just pulling it out. the tire tech said the belts were tough enough it bend the spike through the tread and did not puncture so.

Ram 1500: Nitto Terra Grappler G2. Reason: 65k mileage warranty, good tire wear properties, XL rated for better sidewall for towing: 116 load index. Overall great traction in winter driving and not noisy for an All Terrain. OEM size. Pricey but worth the money.

I got about 36k out of the G2’s on my 1500 before I had to replace them. They had uneven wear despite routine rotations and balancing, consistent 38psi. At the wear bars on the outer part of the tread, but still plenty of tread in the middle. I did get credit on the mileage warranty from America’s Tire. Went with Bridgestone Duelers.

Sounds like they were underinflated....

My other tire is the Yokohama Geolander A/T GO15's. Just put them on. Have done well in all conditions including snow. They are much quieter than the Falken Wildpeak.
Only reason I went from Falken to Yokohama was H vs T speed rating and 5k higher tread warranty (not that I have ever come close to one) The tread is not as aggressive as the Falken. Will see how well they do in mud when son in law needs me to pull his truck out of somewhere.

I had good luck with Kumho street tires. Back in my teenage years I ran 295/50/15s on my muscle cars and when it was just on the street they ran forever and even hooked fairly good well for a car that was pushing 500 hp and only weighing 3250.
