I have been used to cars brakes most of my life so I figured stopping this RAM would be scary.

It's actually stops damn good to me. Even before I got better pads and rotors. Now it's really good..
This aint the first time this has been posted about the newer rams. The brakes are all the same dimensional wise.

Still wish there was a cheap big brake upgrade

lol. Everyone thinks everything is going to be a recall or a lemon law or something. Take the thing into the dealer and see if they can get it fixed up.

I don't recall using either of those terms, nor is that what I was talking about.

But if you have a problem, ignore it because you think it's just normal, and end up getting in an accident with it, not only could you end up hurting or killing yourself or others, you could end up getting sued by someone else for not having addressed the issue in the first place.

Oh, and then the dealer won't fix your brake problem, that was probably a factory defect, for free. They'll end up charging you, along with fixing the rest of the truck, also likely on your dime.

Plus, it's just stupid to shrug off brake problems. Brakes are too important.

I'm not shrugging anything off. I said to take it to the dealer and have it fixed. If you need to pump the brakes to get them to work, there is a problem for sure. I just hear so many people say, "I have already contacted Chrysler", before contacting the local dealer, and I wonder why. There is not a guy that is going to fly out from Michigan and fix it for you.

Yup. 10 k on mine and they suck. Think I'll get mine checked too but there was another post about the brakes. Many said they are soft from the factory and feels like they need to be bled. That's just how the1500$ are

My brakes have great pedal feel so it's def not " how the 1500's are" if there soft they need to be looked at

ABSOLUTELY !!!!!!
No my brakes do not feel like my 03 Sebring did, but they stop that behemoth without issue period. No manufacturer would produce a vehicle with a known brake fault because the liability risk would be way too high, especially a 5000 lb plus truck.

If you have to pump 'em to get it to stop there IS a problem period.

My dads brand new 2014 Ram stops great. I was impressed the first time I drove it. You may have some air in your system, may need to have it bled by the dealer.

Good luck

My little truck seems to have amazing brakes. It seems tos top quicker than I think a truck should!

Though, I may even upgrade them in the future haha

Awesome to hear that some of you are having great brakes. Did quite a bit of driving today and just loved the ride quality and stopping power / pedal feel of this SLT.
I have contacted my dealer and have an appointment this Friday morning @ 7:30 am. Hopefully I can get in early and get out early.
I will definitely post their diagnoses.
Cheers!!!

It's to get it on record, in case any one or more of several things happens:
-The dealer sucks, and contradicts your story to cover their asses
-It really does turn out to be a mass problem
-It's a problem they know about and don't really have a good fix for, so they want to stall you
-The dealer just has a bad day, or has one mechanic who is less than honest
-Chrysler Engineering isn't responsive to the dealer, and they end up keeping your truck forever

I've seen all of these things and more happen to users of these forums. By the time you know you need a paper trail, it's too late to create one. It's just a matter of covering your own ass in case you need to rattle one or more cages later.

You can do whatever you want for your paper trail or records or whatever makes you feel good. But contacting Chrysler is unlikely to actually get the vehicle fixed faster or better. It does not affect the dealer or technician working on your car. I think it is a rare occasion that things will need to escalated to the corporate level. Getting a good relationship with the dealer and technician that will be working on your stuff will get you much farther. I deal with one service advisor and have only one technician work on my wife's Audi when it is in the shop.

I didn't say it would get it fixed faster. If you don't get it by now, never mind.

Since I was talking to Airborne63, I'm not sure why you're so emotionally invested in this, but keep ranting if you wish. I'm done.

And cgeorgemo, good advice. Start with the simple **** first.

Quick note. Bled my brakes earlier today after work. No air in the system whatsoever, and made no difference whatsoever.

There is no need to call Chrysler corporate every time you have a problem with your truck. Just take it to the dealer to get fixed. You establish/maintain a paper trail every time you take it to the dealer. They will give you a invoice/receipt stating something like "investigated customer's claims of poor performing brakes". You only need to contact Chrysler if the dealer tries to give you the run around.

Not trying to be argumentative, just trying to save you guys from wasting your time. I hope you get your braking issue resolved quickly and painlessly.

Fair enough. And you're right. Thanks for taking the cool-headed approach.
