Hi Guys,
I have a brand new 2014 Ram 1500 Sport. Km's on clock is just at 800. I am driving a rental Ram 1500 SLT through work with about 6000 km's and the brake pedal feel and the stopping performance is like night and day. I have been noticing how poor my new truck stops, sometimes I end up over the stop sign line. A big truck like this should be able to stop much better. Not too mention the sticker price. It was not a cheap truck. The Ram 1500 SLT stop so much better and has a great pedal feel. It feels solid at the touch of your foot whereas my Sport the pedal just drops out and I have to pump it to get some resistance. Not liking this at all.
I also did notice when I am using the ERS feature the truck will brake a little better. Rpm's are a little higher I guess and there is more engine braking involved. Just my assumption of whats going on. Does that mean that I have to use ERS to stop my truck because the brakes are so lousy. What's the use of having this big 5.7 l Hemi motor if I can't stop at a stop.
With regards to driving with ERS is there a preferred way to use it correctly. I think city driving at 60 kms and below having MDS active really makes the truck drive like a slouch. Can someone please educate me on what is the proper way to use this feature. Will gas mileage decrease with ERS active all the time for city driving. I am thinking of contacting Chrysler Canada and complain about my poor braking performance.
