I have a 2000 ram with a 5.9l Magnum 360 with a 5" lift and 35" tires.
I'm looking to increase its preformance a little bit, here is what I have already done.
Single plain performance intake manifold,
Harland sharp 1.7 ratio rockers, new springs and push rods, headers, 456 gear's w/limited slip,
Superchip flashpaq, and custom 3" exhaust, backed up with a automatic 46re with a shift kit and external cooler.
Now I have heard that a stock cam out of a 318 will increase lift on intake and exhaust stroke but haven't been able to find anything about it on line, anyone have any thoughts on this? I am on a tight budget but want to improve my truck. I'm not looking to build a drag truck as this is my daily driver just looking for a bit more push, any extra ideas out there? Any thoughts and ideas I can get is definitely greatly appreciated, and thank you in advance

A TB spacer will get you some huge gains.

Lol.

But, look into an SCT tuner with flyin ryan tunes. You have most stuff covered with the gears and intake and exhaust

You pretty much covered all the bases on stock bolts on for power and 4.56's should've already gave you plenty. Next thing is to put in a aftermarket camshaft. That 3" exhaust is probably killing you too if it's dual and not single. I agree with Riley on going to Flyin Ryan tuning. Only other way of gaining more power is stroker, turbo, or cummins but I know you're on a tight budget.

Stock 318 cam isn't bigger. Don't buy into that bs. Don't bother doing a cam without doing heads first and no point dicking with the stock heads that are probably cracked when you can pick up EQ heads from Jegs for $318 each bare. Flow 40cfm more out of the box and aren't as prone to cracking. Can do some head work on those, stiffer springs with adjustable 1.7s instead of the HS. Then worry about cam.

And I agree with SCT and FlyinRyan tuning. That superchips is junk. You can get a canned tune from him that will be better than your superchips performance tune and if you get a datalogger and wideband 02 with a gauge you can get fully custom tunes. This is your best option for maximum power and drivability.

Regarding your exhaust, 2.5" is more than enough for single pipe on a bolt on motor, anything bigger and you're losing tq unless you run a Flowmaster 40 44 or 50.

Thanks about the info on the cams, I thought it just sounded odd. Glad to know I'm not the only one. Do you happen to know what can I should go with? I don't want to go huge, just a mild one. I'm gonna get the heads drilled for larger springs, but would like some ideas for a mild cam

Sorry man I stopped suggesting what cam to use a while ago. I would waste my time finding out from that person on what they wanted, then find a cam to suit there need. only to have them pick some raunchy cam that did not work well.

Your best place to get info is right from a cam maker like comp, crane cam, places like that, call then tell them what u want and they will tell u. Get it from them hands down the BEST place to get cam info. They make them, they test them soooooo.

OK, that's great! I've been looking around on a sight that strictly Mopar, "Hughes engine" yeah I'm thinking my budget is going to end up getting extended and broken, lol
I've checked out comp cams but never heard of crane, I will check them out, and quite honestly I appreciate the advice on where to look, really is helpful, thanks again

Do yourself a flavor and your wallet and stop looking at huges web site, u do not want his stuff. Crane Cam is/was the maker for some of Ma Mopars performance parts. Ie the maggy 1.7 adjustable rr's, all the maggy performance mopar cams and more.

Now fellas, not all Hughes stuff they sell is Hughes. They retail a lot of Indy and mopar parts. I agree on don't buy their products but the website can be helpful for buying other things that are normally hard to get to.

Retail sct tuning too but i sure as well wouldn't buy that from him. That's P.I.E. tuning and they're worse than hemifever
