Okay. Not sure if is only me with this problem (if it is a problem). But I have noticed that when I start my truck up it whines like when a car is low on power steering fluid. Checked the fluid level and it's right on par. It's a 12 1500 with 32000 miles. Any thoughts?

Try flushing and and replacing the fluid. If that is beyond your work level comfort, try the turkey baster method and do multiple fluid extraction and replacement cycles to get most of the fluid replaced.

Sounds like what mine did right before the rack blew out.

I would flush and fill it.

That's not what I was wanting to hear. Was your covered under warranty? Is it costly to replace?

Mine has made that noise since it was new and I have the electric steering. My buddy has a Larimie and it does the same thing. So far no issues for either of us...

Found the problem. Went in for an oil change and asked the dealership to look into the noise. After the oil change, recall complete, and a software update they tell me my truck is ready. I asked if they figured out the noise complaint. Service advisor told me that they could not find the problem. As luck would have it the service manager was standing right there and asked to go outside with me. Started the truck and he immediately told me it was my idler pulley. He went and got his mechanics stethoscope and checked all the pulleys. Yep. Idler it was. They wanted $110 to fix it. Went to Napa and got it for $20. 15 minute fix.

His post said that he got it from Napa. Likely not a molar part.
