Hey guys been doing alot of reading here and ordered a ppe pan. it just came in and i have a few questions.

First question theres no bolts / hardware with it so do i just reuse the old bolts/hardware from the stock pan thats installed?
I know i need to keep the metal collar insert things but no where mentions anything about bolts and i thought the new pan would come with hardware.

Next question is fluid how many of yall used Valvoline max life fluid and like it with no issues?
I was going with mopar however its 38 to 41 per quart and well over 90 minute drive but i can get max life at local shop and decent price but dont want to risk anything if its a bad idea.

also how many quarts are needed with this pan?

All comments are welcome thanks.

by the way its the 2quart extra pan going on a 14 ram sport.

Reuse your original bolts, they aren't torqued high enough to ever really need replacing, buy a new gasket from your local dealer though.
Pick up 8 liters/quarts just to be safe

Same color and smell as the OE fluid, marketed directly for the ZF trans. It's a no brainer to me. I've had 7+ qts of it in mine since last summer, buttery smooth.

Im central canada so no one carries this stuff, its a challenge to get mopar fluid and the places that have it is insanely priced and 90 minutes away so at least the maxlife i found at a auto store and its about 15 a quart.

I would check and see if the bolts are long enough first. I imagine your pan is probably made out of aluminum right. They might not be long enough because an aluminum pan is thicker to displace the heat better. I use Transmax ATF+4 in mine. Whatever you added for quarts before just add 2more. And just check your oil a few times after your unit say 150 to 200 miles to make sure you have the proper oil level still in the truck. As for the bolts and washers just go to your local parts store and get some longer bolts same thread. Mine where metric fine thread. Just my opinion.

New bolts and a gasket are cheap enough from the dealer. You can reuse, but why? Let that one pan bold cool down...you'll know which one, it's right above the very hot cross-over pipe. Be careful when R&R the pan guide pins. Don't just whack them in, use a block of wood to back-up the flange on the pan or you could be looking at a cracked flange. Tighten the pan bolts evenly. You need to make sure that the guide pins get fully seated when tightening the bolts. Make sure you loosen the fill plug BEFORE dropping the old pan. Get a cheap pump-up garden sprayer and take off the nozzle to pressure fill the pan!

The bolts for the ZF are good for an aluminum pan too, thick flange with spacers. Also, ATF+4 is not the fluid to use for the ZF 8spd.

I used the Amsoil signature series fuel efficient ATF with my PPE pan last fall. Buttery smooth, 6K miles so far (just did 3600 mile roundtrip to Florida from New Hampshire) no issues. I have the 3.6 vvt. I was a dumb schmuck and waited till 160K miles to do it. Did the drain and fill, plan to do another soon to get the bulk of the old stuff out. Some here say they didn't bother with the metal sleeves and have had no issues. I used them but they were too tight at first. Had to do a few swipes in each hole with a round file to get them to fit properly. I ordered new transmission bolts, the same size as the old ones, they fit no problem. Good luck.

With the help here we got it done. Im thinking he didnt have the truck at perfect level so once it gets nicer out here ill back it into some ramps in my driveway and check the fluid level.

fluid didnt look bad at all and no sludge or grime in the pan. magnets looked clean he said.

temperature driving though seems the same to me i was hoping it would be 4 or 5c less but atleast its clean fluid.

Yeah, I haven't notice much change in temperature since doing it in Nov. But to be honest I never really monitored it that closely before.
