Cheapo amazon LED they have been great so far, little over 4 months old. I figured $40 vs $200 from headlight revolution I could buy 4 sets of these.

Low Beam and a second set for high beam so they are all the same color temp:

Did you have to buy anything extra for these to work properly or did they just plug right into the factory wiring without any problems? Also what size bulbs did you buy for highs and lows and did you get fogs as well?

They are 9005 for both hi and low on factory projector. The conversion harness (retrofitsource.com) and bulbs are all plug and play. I did the morimoto fogs when I did the bumper

So you had to buy a conversion harness to make the LED bulbs work?

The conversion harnesses are only needed because he put projector headlights in a truck that originally came with quad headlights. The bulbs themselves don't require any modifications to use

Decided to change where the black boxes for the adapters are mounted. They fit in the "tray" of this plastic structure under the headlight without rubbing the headlight, even though it looks like they won't fit.
I mounted the HID ballasts to the core support uprights above where I originally mounted the black boxes. You can just see the corner of the ballast behind the black plastic structure on LH side of opening. The real estate behind the light gets pretty crowded, especially behind the drivers side light, where the power distribution center and wiring reside.
Honestly, I can now see the appeal of stuffing the ballast inside the housing. But since I had already drilled the dust covers, I rocked this setup:

The HIDs look really nice just shining in my carport, but still have to test em out on the road and check the aim. The projectors look nice and I really love the factory LED turn signals--they are super bright!
I'll give my impression of this setup once I get some seat time at night. One of the ZXE bulbs is dead with no visual indication, so I'm gonna find different bulbs for high beams. Factory 9005s are a placeholder for now...

Recommendations for high beams?
I prefer a warmer color temp for rainy weather, etc.
Philips 9011s? (Leaning toward this)
Philips xtreme vision 9005s?
Super whiz bang LEDs?
Other?

For giggles, figured I'd put up a pic of the bad ZXE bulb. No visual indication that I can see. Nothing burnt. Fluke says open connection. Just thought it was weird.

Good job on a nice clean install! I'm sure you'll be glad you upgraded to projectors once you're finished getting them setup the way you want. I went with the Phillips 9011 HIR. You have to trim the one tab for it to fit correctly for the socket but it is easy to do and the light output is awesome. Couple it with the low beam (when the projector opens) and you will have no problem with visibility. Link below to show what to trim.

Edit: Definitely odd about the ZXE..

Drove it to work this morning and I was really impressed. I'm satisfied with the 4500K color temp and they seem to put out a nice spread of light. I have to find a level place close to a wall or building and try to check the aim. To me they need aimed up a little, but it may just be that I'm not used to the cutoff of HIDs and it makes it look like they don't throw as far.
I ordered the 9011 bulbs, figured they must be pretty good as several members are running them. One thing's for sure, the factory high beams suck pretty bad, but I do really like the color combination of the HIDs with the halogen highs.
Once I get it all dialed in, they'll be mint!

When I put mine in I also thought they were aimed to low,I raised them slightly.I got my wife to drive my truck and I drove her car opposite direction, just on a 25mph street.I almost had to stop I was blinded that much, thought she was on high beams.

Sooo...I got to wondering why my high beams seemed so bad. I noticed that I can't see any difference in the low beam cutoff line when I hit the high beams, even when I'm right next to my shop door.
Aren't the high beam shutters supposed to actuate and let more light through from the low beams?

I turned the engine off, key to on and low beams on. I hit the high beams and listened carefully. (I'm pretty tall and reached the stalk from outside the truck, stretched out as far as I could toward the headlight) I couldn't hear anything click or make a sound. Aren't they supposed to flip or click or something?

I connected to the truck with AlfaOBD and checked for faults. Now I did lock and unlock my truck with the headlights not installed, so it could have something to do with these, but not sure.

I cleared the faults and tried again. Still no high beam shutters as far as I can tell.

So I ran the tests on Alfa and got this

Screenshot_2019-02-09-19-54-15.png

Screenshot_2019-02-09-19-54-31.png

The tests for low beams, high beams, and turn signals passed. Even though I've never seen it mentioned, do I need to tell Alfa that I have projector headlights?
Anybody have any insight on this? I need to figure out if this is a problem with the headlights or the conversion harnesses or whatever else.
I'm a little disappointed right now, so any help is appreciated.

I'll run the same tests on mine tomorrow to see if I get the same results. I know for sure that I have not messed with any of the settings for anything dealing with lights (other than license plate lamps). That includes changing over to projector settings in Alfa.

I know some of these types of tests have failed in the past when using them but the developer has fixed most of them to my knowledge. This doesn't mean that with the releases that something didn't break..

Also, when I flip my high beams on I can hear from in the cab the shutter movement.

I was wondering whether all the tests were valid or not. But my high beam shutters are definitely not working. I need to figure out which pin on the headlight is supposed to get power in order for the shutters to function. I never anticipated this problem....*sigh*

That I could not begin to tell you but we have some pretty knowledgeable folks around here. Hopefully someone will see this and lend a hand.

I did some digging on Alfa thread and found where you and Kad were discussing the low beam shutter. From what I understand the test for high beam shutter did not work. But you posted up a pic where you blocked off the high beam with blue masking tape and showed the low beam before and after, and it's a huge difference.

I ended up making a separate thread on this issue.
Thanks

Turn on this for proper high beam function.

Did you put he max5 led kit in the low beam, high beam, or both?

If you put em in the low beam spot, do you think they would fit in the high beam spot?
