Greetings -

Just upgraded from a 15 2wd 1500 and got a 2015 Ram 1500 Laramie 4wd to play with. I'm going to add a Fox 2.0 coil-over 2" lift to the vehicle and will add new tires and wheels to the ram at the same time. I'm looking to build it for some off-roading and expedition type/off-grid travel so it is for functional purpose, not just cosmetic. It may eventually pull a small ultra-light.

I currently have the 33" tire and 20" rim that is factory. I am wanting to grab either Toyo A/T 2 or General Grabbers for tires and am curious what the pro or con of a 17" vs 18" wheel is? When airing down and running at lower PSI, does one have a benefit over the other?

The Rebel factory wheel is 17" I believe, but the aftermarket wheel I like from AEV is 18". Why pick one over the other? I can get the rebel wheels with stock Toyo tires for $1,400 on craigslist versus buying the 18" wheels and new tires for around $2,000. Not sure I am understanding the benefits of one over the other.

Also, if I go with the 35" when I currently have a 33" tire, do I need to do a speedometer correction on the vehicle? I don't think the 35" will rub with the 2" lift, but unsure.

This will be a daily driver and do a good bit of long range highway travel between destinations, so am trying to make the best decision but just don't have tons of mechanical or vehicle knowledge.

Thanks for the help!

I went from the factory 17" rims to 18" rims and dont really think there will be enough difference to really matter on road or off that you would be able to say you got one over the other.

I went to 18x9s with 35x12.50x18 General Grabber X3s , I like the side wall height with this set up just fine although truth be told if these wheels would have been made in 17s thats what I would have went with ad I like more side wall than rim.
