Hi all. New Ram owner here, shiny new 2012 Big Horn 5.7L, Sagebrush Pearl.
I just got out of a 10 year affair with a 2002 Dakota 4.7L Quad Cab. It was a tumultuous relationship. Lots of stuff went wrong, but I loved her none the less. One thing I battled in the last couple of years was rust- mainly the drip edges and door seams, but I also did a number on the back vertical edge of the bed... the space on the body that butts up to the closed tail gate. Early on I used the truck to haul gravel. I had a Rhino Liner on the bed, so it was unscathed. But the painted surface between the bed and gate was scratched up pretty bad. All it takes is rock or two to get stuck back there. Fast forward through a few Minnesota salt-spray winters and I had an uphill battle on my hands. Can't tell you how many times I pulled the tailgate off to apply rust converter.
SO... back to my the Ram. I just had 3M Scotchguard film applied to the hood, front fenders, rocker panels, lower doors, door edges, and under the mud guards. Now I'm wondering what's the best thing to put on the back bed edge. More 3m? Plasti-dip? The Rhino guys just sprayed a bed liner, but they said they couldn't go over that edge because it would interfere with the gate closing.
Any ideas?
