Well it's a few questions actually?

I know how the 5 speed is in the 09-11 but how's the 6 speed compared to the 5.

I know it off the section but anything else new with the 12s like suspension upgrades or anything in that matter. Just found a lone star I like and it's at 31, hemi cc 4x4 center console and all, might look at it if my dad likes then try to get them at like 21ish or lower then hit em with a trade and down payment

From another site:

For the 2012 model year, the 545RFE was recalibrated and introduced as the 65RFE in 1500 Ram models. With the exception of an improved torque converter, it is physically the same as its predecessor. The key difference in the 65RFE is the ability to use all six forward gears in sequence when using Electronic Range Select mode. In normal drive mode, however, the 65RFE uses the shift pattern of the 545RFE; thus never using 2nd and 3rd gears in succession. 2500 and 3500 models with gas engines received the 66RFE, a hybrid of 68RFE internals (including the gearset) packaged in a 545RFE case.
Gear Ratios:
65RFE
1st 3.00:1
2nd 1.67:1
3rd 1.50:1
4th 1.00:1
5th 0.75:1
6th 0.67:1
Reverse 3.00:1

Your 4 speed? You should have the 545RFE in your 03...unless somehow you got the 45RFE, but I thought they stopped using them at the end of 02.

The transmissions are the same
The old ones had a 2nd an 2nd prime
One was just a passing gear so it would go from first to one or the other
Not it will hit both

Even though they are "built" for it shifting manually is really bad for the torque converter
Ask me how I know...

good luck, i may sound negative, but i don't see them dropping the price of that truck 10 grand or more

I can tell you that I have a '12 which replaced my '06 which I drove recently (sold it to family) and the 12 hunts for gears more than the 06 did. I would almost venture to say that while the 12 is a better truck...that transmission in the 06 seems smoother.

It's entirely possible to get them to drop the truck that much. If we go through with this deal were getting 9.5k off sticker. And before we were looking at new lonestar trucks for 19.5.

Oh, yeah. I understand. That stinks. Maybe look into a quad cab one? I know sticker difference is about 3-4k for qc vs cc.
