Had my first of 4 free oil/filter changes done today at the dealer. Truck has around 5200 miles. I swear it sounds quieter now at startup and idling. Anyone else notice a difference after changing the oil?

Always if I've pushed the life of the oil, usually right around 5k or 6k miles for me. Or if the oil level gets lower than it should, I dont let this happen if I can help it but 2 or 3 times I've been 3/4 qt low. And she starts chatter. If I pay attention 1/2 qt low she'll start whispering.
6.4l?

I have the 5.7 in a 1500. The oil level was fine and the oil meter life gauge was at 50% at 5200 miles. I'd never go 10k without changing it. About 5-6k wil be my limit.

I read another members post saying many hemi's chatter on taxed oil. He apparently has several RAM work trucks, said they all do it. 5000 mi seems light for a 1500, for the chatter not for oil change. Not sure what lube your using but my wife has a 5.7l in a grand Cherokee and Blackstone just moved her up to 16,000 mi oci. I trust them completely so I guess we are gonna see what the uoa says next time for sure. Now that she works from home it's gonna be a year probably lol.
Blackstone has my 2500 at 8000 mi oci.

You ever send oil samples to Blackstone? They are a great service. I finally feel like I'm not guessing, well not nearly as much.

Multi grade oils as in winter rated and weight oils not something like sae20, have viscosity improvers in them to make winter rating. overtime these improvers which are similar to long chains of lubrication break and actually become worse then if you had no improvers to begin with. The oil industry has been searching for a self healing vii, but until then, oil will always lubricate better in the beginning of an interval as a scientific fact.

It is a feature of group 3 base oil, they call mineral oil. If you want that "smoother" feel, you can research group 4/5 base oils. Some of these products have zero vii's in them, so there is no shear, and it will run as smooth from day one to last day of an interval. Redline 5w20 has no vii's per Dave from redline, there base oils are line 2 and 5 below. Consider our rams operate at 212f, as you see this is the upper limit of group 3 oils in the sense of base oil, now they add stuff to it, but everything they add is temporary compared to base oil performance.

Been running Redline 5w30 since 1200 miles, mainly based on the excellent research provided by Burla. My engine is silent all of the time.

I am looking to do my first oil change (right at 4k miles) and am getting confused over all the info and other places as to which oil filter to get.

I've got a 2020 with the standard 5.7 in it.

I'd like to get the Royal Purple oil filter, but am looking for the correct part number. Is it the 10-48 or the 20-820?

Thanks.

The 20-820 is the larger option and will fit. This was the spec filter for the 2010's and around those years, but for some reason the spec filter changed to a smaller filter, but the butt plate is the same, the larger ones still fit as proven 100's of times on ram forum.
