I bought my 2015 2500 SLT a little less than a year ago. It is all stock. The radio would every once in a while just not come on or just sit at the Ram logo. Nothing would fix it (pressing all the buttons, etc) other than turning the truck off and coming back later - like hours or overnight. I mostly drive it by myself, but in the last three months I have had a passenger in the front seat a lot and it seems that when I do have a passenger the radio doesn't work. I know this sounds weird, but I swear that it happens all the time now. Anyone have any ideas?

Used to be that a bunch of our crew trucks were programmed so the radio wouldn't work unless everybody had their seatbelts on.

this was on a newer truck?
Yes. They programmed certain keys to to do that so the guys would wear their seatbelts. Just trying to remember if the rams did it. All the ford's did it for sure and the last GM we had.

I am just curious how they did that. Maybe a back door the manufacture left open?

Not fully sure. It might be something they added when they put in the GPS tracking on them. I always had the key that bypassed it, but the rest of the guys had seatbelt and speed restriction. Also logged all the infractions. Ford has my key that does it from the factory mostly for parents keeping their kids in line and chevy has something similar.

That's very interesting. Thanks for the idea. I'll make sure everyone has their seat belt buckled before I start the truck.
