That is the question!

I had to let go my 2012 Sport but will be rectifying that this Friday when I order my new 2015. The only option(s) I'm on the fence about is color, and the RAMbox.

Several trucks ago I had three different Avalanches and loved the side compartments but they didn't take up as much side body as the RAMbox.

For those of you that have em'...do you love em', hate em'? Are they breaking? Are they flimsy? Do they have drain holes? Will it fit a small compressor?

You would think it would be easy to find one on a dealer lot to look at, but not here in San Diego so thanks in advance for the opinions. Fire away!

I liked the boxes since the first time I saw them. I hunt, fish and haul motorcycles, so I kept them on my ordered 2500 Limited (they are standard on the limited). Although they do shorten the width, the bed size will still fit a sheet of plywood which can be seen on the Ram site or YouTube.

The boxes do have drain holes in them with plugs and are marketed as being able to use the boxes as coolers and when done, you remove the plugs and let the water drain out.

I bought the box dividers and nets that separate each side into three compartments and have nets on the lid. I also bought the rifle holder that you place in the box and it holds two scoped rifles or you flip it and it holds fishing poles.

When not being used for rifles, poles or whatever else, I plan on keeping tow straps, my fire extinguisher and other odds and ends that I had laying on the floor of my last truck.

Too bad you cannot see them in person, but if you are on the fence, read about them and seek out one. I know you are in SD, but surely someone out there has one on the lot or maybe talk to an owner you see at the store, etc.

If you want to get an idea of their dimensions, features, etc. and can't find any on dealers lots, you tube has some great videos for close ups. Just search ram box. only certain hitches will work with them and a 5er hitch. That's what I don't like about them.not to mention the price.

Great feedback! I have a few things such a few scoped rifles that would look awfully sexy in there. I appreciate the comments.

I love the idea but my four wheeler won't fining there with the Ram boxes so I couldn't get them. My dad had them on his 2010 and they worked sweet! Kept the towing stuff and tools in them

If you had a 2500, could you put a atv deck in there between the boxes? You wouldn't be able to open them with the deck down likely... but just thinking..

Yes you can. the width between the wheel wells does not change with the ram box. You only lose the space to the sides of the wheel wells. You can still fit sheet goods in there

I wish you said no to deter me from upgrading my truck in the next year or two. It's either upgrade my ram or pay off my ram and get a charger.. (rt of course) [emoji48]

I would like to get one but won't because you lose that space and I will need it for a fifth wheel hitch. There are certain hitches that will work but limited choices. I'll just throw a tool box in there and save a grand$. That's how I look at it. They are sweet though.

I like the idea of the Ram boxes but I always put a cap on my trucks and as far as I know they do not make a cap that fits with the Ram boxes.

I love the idea of them...but man, they suck up a good amount of bed space.

I had a chance to finally have a good look at them and I'll be honest, for as much bed space as they chew up, I'm glad I do not have them.

I miss having my Rambox. I had them on my 2013 1500 but do not have them on my 2014 2500. :(

What you think is sucked up bed space is all in your heads. I use the living **** out of mine, storing tools and goods. I'm in them all the time. And as far as the bed goes:

20 gallons (5x NATO FUEL CANS), Honda EU2000i Generator, Craftsman 159pcs mechanics toolset, telescoping ladder, B.O.B Stroller, foot stool, and two 54 gallon chests. Not pictured, but know there is still room for, two folding tables, 4 camp chairs and some misc items.

Not to mention I have a short bed crew cab.

Absolutely love my ramboxes. The only space you are losing is above and around the wheel well area in the bed, so the amount of usable bed space you are losing is minimal if any. It looks like you are losing more space than you really are. And you are gaining a ton of usable, lockable storage.

Win!
