Hey guys, I'm looking for recommendations on a bed cover for my 2017 Ram w/cargo box bed. I'm looking at the Extang Solid Fold 2.0 but I'm confused as to how I would be able to open the cargo boxes afterwards. Does anyone have any recommendations for the best fit and function on a cover for a 2017 Ram w/ram box?

When picking your cover, there should be options for bed length and it should also ask w/ rambox or w/out rambox. You could always call the vendor to make sure if in doubt

Forgot to add: My link is to a 1500 with a 5'7" bed with the Rambox.

They summed it all up. as long as its for a RAMBOX cover you will be fine. the covers wont cover the opening section

I bought my truck with the oe trifold cover. Works well with the clamp set up and doesn't leak. Also comes off in about 5 minutes.

Thats the one you want...note it says "With Rambox". It will not cover over the Rambox covers so you will be able to open an close the Ramboxes.

A non Rambox cover won't even fit a truck bed if you have Ramboxes on it. You have to be very specific on Rambox or not when ordering.

Good luck!

It seems like the Extang Solid Fold sits up pretty high over the bed. I prefer a flush mount especially with the ramboxes.

I just finished installing a Bakflip MX4 on my 2018 ram with the 6.4 bed and ramboxes today. Here’s a couple of pics of the newly installed cover:

Personally not a fan of the hard fold ones, unless you will pretty much always have it down. To have full bed access you're gonna be blocking the rear window. The prices are also pretty steep compared to a roll up. Mines a "Access Original" I think I got it for like $300. Works great with my ramboxes

Those roll up covers offer absolutely no security for items in the bed. For me, the whole reason I bought my cover was so I could keep items in the bed and not worry about them being stolen.

I suppose if someone's looking to cut into it you're right. But I see it like this, that means they have to have a pretty sharp knife on them in order to cut into it, and that's going to look pretty suspicious. Plus I have a rear dashcam on my truck as well. But totally a fair point, the hard covers are going to take more work to break into.
