Trucks are meant to race
Just look real good.

What if you could tow that bike to the track, unhook the trailer and run a 12 second 1/4 mile, and then tow the bike back home? That sounds more fun to me than just having a truck that looks pretty on the way to the grocery store.

Why? It's a truck!!!
If you want to actaul let spend money on power then get a car or something that has the foundation to do that. Sure they have sleeper trucks... But they have a lot of money in them. A LOT!
No I don't think towing a bike is fun to run a truck at the track.
Putting a little extra pep in a truck is fine. Your making it "funner" to drive. That said, building up a truck for "serious" power is not like building it with a vehicle that has a better power to weight ratio.
And that's with a stock bike....
I'm just different than other people here but wanted to give the guy about to sink $$$$$ into a tank.

Not everyone wants or can afford to have 2 vehicles, especially not a toy that they are building for racing. Racing is not cheap, so paying for a daily driver as well as funding a drag toy is not easy to do. Being able to have a truck that can take you just about anywhere you want to go, tow just about anything you want to tow, and still run a respectable time at the track is tough to beat. I cant tell you how many corvettes, camaros, and mustangs I have beat at the track and watched them scratch their head trying to figure out how in the hell a big truck just did that to them. That alone is well worth it to me.

If you can afford the parts up keep and gas in a daily driver "race" truck....You can afford something that you can build up for that.
Nothing wrong with it.... But isn't for me.

My bike was paid cash for. Insurance runs me $13.54 a month. Gas cost is in-material.

Because maintaining a daily driver as a competitive "race" truck is not cheap either and if you factor in hidden costs and if something breaks then it stacks up faster than a project.
Take a 1/4 of what you spend and put it in those same cars you beat and try again....
I'm not trying to argue... I posted a photo of what I use for speed and that was it. You questioned my motive for it and asked why.
But hey I see where you are coming from, without the hunger for hemi power you can't sell the power parts :D.
We can just agree we rather other forms of speed. Deal?

And I'm a lot safer in my truck.

You wanna know what makes bikes less safe that autos?

Other drivers!

They don't pay attention. They all text and talk and do makeup. It's ridiculous.
I ride assuming NO ONE can see me. So I have to be aware of my maneuvers and theirs.

I love my bike just as much as the next guy, but part of owning a vehicle is doing whatever the hell you want to it. And if he wants to do what a rather large percentage of people like to do, then so be it.

Unless you have some constructive criticism, input, or experience that will bring him closer to his goal, how about saving those of us who do care a headache by keeping the bike banter where it belongs.

alright, so i've done some deciding, no more "mods", until i can reach 6k in my savings, which shouldn't take long.

well, other than what's posted. lol

so go with a 6.1 intake manifold, headers, all new exhaust, vararam, 6.1 cam or crazy spartan?, tb, and a custom tune?

really and I mean REALLY look into the actual cost of everything you just listed and actual performance gains, where things make power and compare that to the power you are trying to make. Also for the size of your truck, it's going to take more low-end too get moving so just think things through, $6000 sounds like a lot but it'll go real quick.

Totally agree. That list isn't going to get it done in terms of the original goal the op listed.

Save your $$$ on the 6.1 manifold because that adds up quick into your budget for mostly just looks unless your gonna be seeing 6k RPM and above alot. For what it will take to do the swap you will be over half way to a set of decent heads.

Proven quad cab cams:
Franks Racing Sidewinder (no longer around but you can find them popping up)
Inertia Motorsports: Crazy Spartan, Spartan
Comp 260
KRC 210 or 210X

BigSloth has found some good specs on a PPP cam but cant say I have heard anyone running that but see a decent amount of Jeep guys running their stuff.

For 6k you can build something pretty fun, are you doing the install or a shop? If a shop is doing it figure your budget getting cut down more unless they are a shop that works on Hemi's and knows the tricks to doing the work quickly and correct.

My buddy has a shop. We're gonna make a deal soon, I'm gonna do his f250 headlights. (It's a 7.3) in exchange for some hp. I'll be doing all his lighting and painting.

I think you should start from the back and work forward. 4.56s, locker, built valve body, 2800-3000 stall converter, and a Diablo tuner. That would give you better acceleration and overall performance, and then when you go for a cam, the rest of the truck is already set up to run a larger cam. You gotta keep in mind that's 5500 lbs you're slinging around, it takes more than just power to get it moving.

If your truck has 3.92's you won't see much dif in the 4.10's

The gain in acceleration from 3.92 to 4.10 is negligible, not worth the money. The RPM difference at 75mph with 275/60/20 tires or close, is not enough to negate the performance gain in town. Last time I ran the ratio calculator for my 305/50/20 it ended up being like 315rpm.
