Hey folks, I'm new here.

After summer, possibly closer towards the end of the year, I am looking to buy a 2015 ram 1500 express. 4x4, hemi, crew cab(could possibly go with quad cab) and towing package. Don't really need much for options.

I am trying to plan on when I should start looking to buy based on my financial situation. If i can get into a truck under $32k out the door, I can likely buy just after summer. If it's going to be closer to 35-37, I will probably wait until the end of the year to get a bigger down payment saved up to keep the payments low.

According to true car, I would be looking at around $35k before taxes/tags/title but I have read about others getting much less than that.

I really don't want to go waste any dealers time by test driving and getting price quotes when I won't be ready to buy for quite a few months but I also want to know when I can start looking and what to plan for as far as the price.

Thanks for any insight you guys might have.

My opinion... You will probably get the best deal toward the end of the year. Financially, that would also allow you to save up some more for a down payment. Now, there will be stories of people getting great deals all year long, but you have a better possibility the later in the year you go.

What are your reasons for a quad cab? If you can, go with the crew cab. Much more room for not a lot of price difference. There are plenty of people on here that went with the quad cab and are not wishing they would've went with the crew cab instead. I'm sure glad we did. If you need the towing package, make sure you go with the 3.92 gears. You'll be happy you did.

That's just my opinion... others will have different stuff to add in.

I agree with the quad vs crew. I have the quad cab and I wish I would of went crew. The best time to buy is at the end of the year that's when you see the most off msrp. The more loaded up trucks will get more off. I would say realistilly on a express you will get 5-7k off msrp. I paid 33 for my quad cab this time of the year last year although I have some extra options the Uconnect 5.0, back up camera, chrome clad 20s, trailer brake, 4wd, 3.55 with anti spin and probably couple other small things. My msrp was almost 39 and I paid just over 33. So between 5-6k off that's realistic if your not going to travel half way across the us to get one from a big volume dealer. The only time your going to see 9k plus off msrp is with the larmie's and 2500 diesels.

Rule of thumb, whenever you can get 10k of msrp or more go for it, any less take a pass probably the next month you can do it. I got a 4x4 hemi for 24k, but it was reg cab. I do love the truck. let us know what you get, this is the best place to learn about everything Ram.

this is a super high volume dealer in nor-cal

i could get the same exact truck quad cab 2wd 26c package for like 24.5 + fees, its that ridiculous like 27k otd brand new hemi 1500 quad with the nice fog lights rims and dual exhaust

I don't know what or how much your needing to tow, and what your financial situation is, I just traded my ram 1500 in on a 2015 2500 crew cab tradesman 4x4 6.4 with the 6'4 bed with some options. I was out the door at $34,500. I worked with my dealer for about a month. Remember this, they need to sale one more than you need one.
