Yesterday I missed my turn so I pulled into a driveway to turn around and when backing up all the sudden I heard a pop then as if my brakes were applied hard and to lock up but I didn't touch the brake yet, I put it in drive and pulled back into the driveway and didn't see anything physically wrong so I got back in and drove away and it didn't happen again . don't think it was the brakes I really think it was something in the differential
weird but true? Could it be a worn-out differential? My truck has almost 110,000 miles

How long were you driving prior to this happening? Was it long straight highway type driving? If you have a posi rear the clutches can cause a pop noise when turning after a longer period of straight driving as the clutches "lock" together. Have you serviced your rear diff anytime recently? If so, was the proper posi fluid added? If not I would look into servicing the rear diff to start with.

If you're concerned about the brakes causing the noise have them looked at or look at them yourself if you know what you're doing. IMO it wasn't the brakes unless there was something very odd like a stone that was caught between the pad and rotor that dislodged itself but that is extremely rare. It's possible that something was causing brake pressure to remain on but internal brake pressure would not have caused a simultaneous popping noise.
