Due to back, hand and shoulder injuries I haven't been much of a wrench for quite a few years so imagine my surprise when I helped my son change the rotors and pads on my truck and find not only pads but shoes also. Holy Cow....none of my previous trucks had two sets of brakes per wheel. I was only prepared to replace the rotors and pads. Dang now we are going to have to take it all apart and do it again.

The shoes are for the parking brake. You should not have to replace those shoes on the inside of the rotor. Should you?... o_O

The shoes are worn irregularly. Don't know why if it's for the emergency brake since I never use it and I don't tow anything. Hmm

I had to replace the parking brake shoes when I did pads and rotors because the lining separated from a shoe on each side. They just fell off when I slid the rotors off. Had to go back to the parts store for a shoe and spring kit. That was a fun day.

If they haven't fallen apart, I wouldn't worry about it.

The brakes seem structurally sound just worn uneven.

When you say uneven, do you mean left side vs right side, or front shoe vs rear shoe?
