Hey everyone,
I was wondering how much louder the exhaust is without the rear resonators behind the tips? I have a Magnaflow 18 inch muffler, and K&N CAI. Everything else is stock. I know the resonators are there mainly to help with the MDS drone, but if they're removed does the truck get alot louder or does the tone change? I'm looking for a little more noise from my ram but don't want to go crazy with it.
Thanks!

So far as I can tell, it doesn't make the truck "louder" per se, but it should sound "snappier" and yes, you'll get more drone in the cab.

Hey guys,
Sorry for the late update. I went and had them removed. I'm so happy I did it! I should have done it when I originally got the magnaflow installed. As far as I can tell the loudness didn't really change, but the truck has a much deeper tone when accelerating and has some VERY nice burbles on deceleration. The MDS doesn't bother me but my brother can't stand it! Haha. Also, I picked up a pedal commander the other day and it is a completely different truck! What a product! If you'd like I can post a comparison video of a before and after with the resonators removed. Let me know! I hope you all have a great Labor day weekend!
Thanks!

Here you go! I don't know if the iPhone camera will do it justice, but here they are. In the video with resonators, I forgot to rev! Haha.

I've never been able to understand why the factory exhaust sound pretty good in video, but is way more quiet in person.

You should hear the carven I just put on. Sound clips on YouTube were great but not so much in person. It’s much quieter compared to the Flowmaster Outlaw I had on my last truck.

I listened to your sound clips and yes, they sound good! But I agree with 89grand, it sounds much quieter in person. I actually went with a 22" Magnaflow cuz I didn't want to go too loud. I wish I would've gone w/the 18". Its got a little rumble, but not as much as I would like. So here Iam trying to decide if I should delete the resonators or try the 5" tips first? I know it's a hard question to answer, but I wonder how annoying the drone is? I'm in my truck a lot so I don't need that annoyance. But maybe it wont be noticeable since I have the 22"? Thoughts? Anyone? Thx!

I have a Solo Performance cat back kit now that changed out my rear tail pipes and eliminated the resonators and I think it sounds much better without them. The tone is a little deeper and smoother sounding to me (compared to the same muffler I had on about a year ago using my stock tailpipes and resonators). The muffler is similar to the Magnaflow 22" (same size) and the tail pipes are 2.5" instead of 2.25" diameter. The cat back with larger tailpipes and no resonators is about 20% louder than just the muffler with resonators with a slightly deeper, smoother tone. I get no drone, even without resonators.

I was always scared to remove the resonators in prior muffler swaps. Now I'm glad they are gone. I think if you're using a larger muffler then removing them won't make too much of a difference. Smaller mufflers may have some popping and crackling when the resonators are removed.
