Remote start - Hood ajar bypass

Looking for some advice on the hood sensor bypass. I've already been successful with the 1k ohm resistor method but it seldomly works.

Here's the exact way I did it for reference.
1. Open the hood.
2. Unlock the truck.
3. Unclip the sensor and rig the resistor leads into sensor.
4. Initiate remote start sequence on fob.
5. Secure the resistor with electrical tape.

After the above, it seems like it only works the first few times, or it just stops working altogether after having worked 10 seconds ago. This is driving me nuts.

Thanks!

do you have factory remote start then ?

sounds like there is a wiring issue, i would grab pin 11 from the PCM , cut it (make sure you leave enough room to reconnect it) and put the resistor there (going into the PCM)
then ground out the resistor

see what that does

It does have the factory remote start as far as I know.

I'm not too comfortable with wiring, especially cutting into my PCM so hopefully that is not my issue. Worst comes to worst I'll pull the trigger and attempt that if I cannot resolve it, thanks.

Dumb question and I don't know what's going on here, or what your goal is ....but you're trying to overcome an error, have you tried replacing the switch? If so, was the new switch a Mopar switch (sometimes aftermarket parts aren't engineered right)?

Have you tried to Track back the wiring in case it was pinched somewhere or a corroded or partially pulled-out connector? Sometimes guys get on a wire with a test probe and where they pierced the jacket, it can corrode there if it gets wet. Have you tried wiggling and/or inspecting the fuse? Sometimes fuses can corrode internally. Rare, but I've seen it. Is the light under the hood an LED bulb?

Again, I don't know what you've tried or not...

totally understandalbe

one point of clarification though, the wire i suggested you cut and ground out is not part of the PCM, it is part of the hood latch harness, namely the part where it connects into the PCM

i guess you try to find one of the little connectors and put a ground wire with a resistor in it, and swap it out for the pin that goes to the latch

in short, im suggesting the same as @Jeepwalker is, just finding a different way about it

i guess one other option would be to find someone with alfaOBD and have them change the hood latch rating from 1000 to 500 OHM

but that would be a band aid i think, im guessing its a wiring issue

Did you solder or crimp the resistor into this circuit?

Securing an electrical connection with tape is not even remotely adequate and will be fraught with intermittent grief.
