Dont take this the wrong way but why?
I mean if you're looking for more light just throw on one of these. Probly much less work

The cargo light doesn't put out much light for backing at night, try switching it on and backing once.

I found a little light bar that fits on the licence plate and mounts with the existing bolts. Works great and is not overkill for a backup light.
