So this past weekend i jumped in my truck to run some errands. Grabbed my seat belt to stay safe of course. Tried to snap it into the buckle part but wouldnt go in all the way. Thought that was strange. I jumped out and tired to buckle it again but still wouldnt go together. I messed with it for about 10 mins and finally got it to snap in once. But it was way to much effort.

So fast forward to this am. I called my dealership to take the truck in for the safety repair of the seat belt. They told me next available was at the end of Aug. I was like this is a SAFETY concern. What if i have an accident and no belt on.??? Either FCA or the dealership would be a fault for a faulty safety devise and could be held liable.

Has anyone else had this problem with their seat belt?? I have an appointment but not until end of Aug and in line for a cancellation. I would go to another Ram dealer but its over 2 hrs away.

Tell the dealer that to be safe, he should provide you a loaner with a working seat belt until he can fix it. That might speed up your appt..

ITs a 2016 with approx 22k miles, i really doubt that its crumbs or other material in it. It worked when we got to dinner then stopped working when we went home.

Hi KCaudill,
We understand your safety concern and we're glad to see that you have set an appointment with your dealership. Since our dealers are independently owned and operated, they are in charge of their own scheduling. Please know if you were to get a sooner appointment, it would mean displacing a customer that has already made one. If you decide to keep your appointment, let us know if you need any assistance during the servicing process.

It takes less than 5-10 minutes to verify and order you a new part overnight for you. I know they can get you in, they have to want to. I'm a dealership fixed ops director and we do it all the time. Not all appointments that have been made are as serious as this safety issue. Service manager can get you in.

Update on the seat belt

THe dealer got me in and found the seat belt (part that is attached to the seat) was defective. A part inside had broken. They replaced under warranty. While they had it i asked them to check the other seat belts for the same defect. The other front seat buckle was in about to break the same as the 1st. They replaced both front seat buckles. Fortunately the failure mode is not being able to easily buckle the belt and not failing by disconnect.
