Just drove 200 miles, Seattle to Portland. 65 in the 60. 70 in the 70. Mostly ACC control. No hard acceleration. Got 16.6mpg.

2022 1500 Limited, eTorque, 3.92.

I feel like it should have gotten better. Closer to 20. Anyone else have experience with this drive in a like truck?

Radial tires or all terrains? Wide tires?

Used to drive this route a couple of weekends a month (for kids' sports). I have 2014 Hemi with 6sp and 3.55 on 33" AT tires. I would get at best 16.7 mpg with moderate acceleration and about 5-8 mph above speed limit (except around Chehalis :)). But your truck is pretty new. I think it's going to get better after a few kmiles.

Most likely running winter blend fuel which usually lowers the fuel economy.
The wind is also a big factor, as much as they try to improve the aerodynamics of a truck. The more wind or faster you go will drag the fuel economy down more than extra weight.

How many miles on the truck? Was that hand calculated or what the truck says? I'd suspect it'll get better. Crash's point about fuel is spot on. My '19 with 60K will do 20.9 on mostly flat highway at 70mph...but in the cold months I struggle to get 19mpg.

I have driven that route several times...sadly not in my truck, always a rental car.

about exactly what I get out of my '12 2wd 1500 w/a 4.7. 70 mile round trip to work and home, mostly open road/ only 5 stop signs and 4 turns (all at above listed stop signs) in each 35 mile leg. winter blend, and within 1/2 mpg of what my 99 dakota with its 3.9 v6 was getting. so to me "not bad" I will never "not": have a truck, even if not my daily. I will also never have a Prius type vehicle.

I got better mileage on that drive (Hillsboro, Vancouver, Tacoma, Everett) with my 6.4L 2500 but it had some miles on it.

My best MPG was achieved when I wasn't burning winter blend fuel.

1300 miles.
Factory A/T tires.
Hand calculated. Although the truck was spot on.

Thanks for feedback. Was just trying to see how it compares.

Headed back north. Will see if it aligns with going south.

That engine's not broken in yet. You'll get better MPGs on that same route after you've put on more miles...and you're not running winter gas.

The odds of seeing 20 mpg with your combo isn't really that great. The vast majority of 3.92 equipped 4x4 CC truck will see about 17 mpg @ 70-74 mph.
You may gain a mpg or so once broken in.
There are a few that get to 20 but that isn't the norm - at least in my experience.

Summer fuel and warmer temps will help a bit as said above.

Well your headed up hill I am sure it will be worse. Check your air pressure in your tires that will effect you almost 1mpg.

I just made a similar trip to go pickup a utility trailer, but I run on 101 for a healthy chunk of miles,
I have near 7500 miles on, AT offroad pakage 3.92 trans.

On the way in, according to the computer during the 50-60mph highway, I got an average of 19mpg. Once I hit the interstate it dropped to 16. Likely due to going 70. That wind and low gearing tends to drop the mpgs with anything faster than 60.

On the way back with the 12' trailer + 4.2' 'sail' (ramp) interstate dropped to 14. 50-60mph highway dropped to 16.

All this according to the computer which to me has been known to be off

Have the same combo you have in our 2021 1500. We do get better than 16.6 but under 20 for sure. The comfort and safety make up the difference for us.

I have a 2019 Ram 1500 with the V6. I get around 18 MPG in town driving. A few months back I drove about a 300 mile round trip on freeway all the way back and home. I made a point of staying around 74 MPH with the trucks and noticed my transmission stayed in 8th Gear with sometimes dropping down to 7th up a grade. I surprisingly had 21.5 MPG for the trip.

I gassed up before I hit the freeways and then refilled coming off the same exit for for home. So I had no off freeway computed in that MPG.

I should also add I had no load or tow.

Going 70 on cruise control. slightly rolling hills of I-20 in SC. 38 mile trip
Brand new at the time.
Ethanol free? Tailwind? Did you also double check with the pump? At least from my experience the computer isn't quite accurate. it's always been off by 2-3mpg

Regular gas. Don't recall meteorological conditions :) Not that **** to check mileage at pump. YMMV. I have duplicated 21-22 several times. This is the only time I took a picture. Not a big deal either way. Just an FYI.
