Here is the situation. I am flying across the country tomorrow, I don't want to pay for a week of parking. I've worked it out with a friend to deliver my truck to the airport 24 hours before I arrive home BUT I have only one key fob for my truck. I know the internal key in the fob serves no purpose except unlocking the door, can I take this key with me on my trip and have my friend lock (manually) my fob in the truck? It is a last minute trip, I didn't have time to get a second key before leaving. Family emergency. Will this work?

My understanding is that fobik safe will not allow the fob to be locked in, but the service manual mentions if you lock it in 3 times it will stay locked in.

Note I've never tried it and I'm not sure what would happen the next time you try to get in and use it.

Is it a tip-start or a keyless enter-n-go setup? That should work with the tip start style (it does on mine) but the alarm will go off when you open the truck with the physical key. The Keyless EnG system has safeguards to prevent the fob from being locked in the truck, not sure if it would work with that style.

I was able to lock the fob in it, and unlock from the outside with the little key. I know once I have both pieces with me I will be fine. But can my friend drive my truck without the little key physically inside the fob?

There is nothing electronic in the physical key, they should be fine.

I don't think the little key being out of the fob make any difference. Can verify tomorrow if no one else does first.

The dealership just showed me this weekend while I was in gor recalls that the key and fob do not need to be together to work.
