So I just got my "new to me" 2022 Bighorn at 30k, and today tried out the 4WDhigh in our first snow fall...
I got a service trans gauge warning when I got home from taking wife to work.

It went away after switching back to 2WD but while it was on I couldn't do anything in the menu, it took over my console
This means my front Diff needs fluid? or Something else?

Run the code, perhaps transfer case perhaps something else. Could be anti lock issue, I believe the are other things that can trigger that. Go back to 4wd does it again?

"Service the Transmission" doesn't really mean "service" as in, swapping fluid and filters... it means there's something wrong. It could happen at 1K miles. Admittedly, the error message could be worded better.

It does seem strange the 4WD system would trigger a transmission error. In my experience, those flashing messages don't always result in stored codes but scanning for one would definitely be the first step. Also, my truck has displayed a "Service 4WD System" message so it should differentiate between the systems.

You can always stop by the part house and have them scan for codes most do it for free
yeah, my 2017 didn't need the cable, I'll get mine this week.
The warning didn't come back but I didn't do 4WD again yet either.
I'll wait, It might teach me something I didn't know

Hello Everyone. Once you get codes read that will eliminate guessing. Ive repaired cars and trucks 52 yrs, I personally Flush my Vehicles transmission fluid at 25K miles. My previous 2022 Ram 2500 pulled 12K lbs regularly. Owner manual said “ Life Time Fluid “ ( like BMW) I called Tech support, who recommended changing at 50k miles for hard working vehicles. I had it flushed at 25K & 50k miles at dealer. I was offered a great deal on a 2025 Ram 3500 L-bed 6.7L SRW couldn’t pass it up. Everyone Forgets about trany fluid until…. Enjoy & Drive Safe.

Dont know about ZF trans but power flushing is not something I would ever recommend to any one, I learned this info from several different trans builders, some with over 30 years experience....
