I have an 05 quad hemi 2wd, 56K, the steering wheel shakes going down the road and lately getting worse.
Have you guys heard of what could be causing this? I think it might be the idler or pitman arm. Has anyone had this experience? What did you do to fix it?

Thanks

how much of a shake? just left to right movement? Are you on stock wheels and tires? I ask because on my previous truck i had aftermarket wheels and toyo mt tires and they were not balanced properly and it caused a left right movement in the steering wheel, not just the vibration that is generally associated with unbalanced tires

If yours is an 05 then all you have is a rack and pinion steering. I would check the tierod end, alignment, and the tire balancing. I had this problem on mine with some unbalanced tires.

Droid Incredible 2 on the move!!!

On the money! I just looked under the truck on my lunch break and noticed the rack & pinion. This is my first Dodge to own(chevy guy) so i assumed it would be the pitman or idler. Now I have no clue. I noticed the end bar links are at a weird angle at the bottom, but both sides are the same(nothing noticeable). The wheels and tires are the stock 20s/goodyears. Tires are getting close to being replaced, but i dont think it would be balancing as it is gradually getting worse. The movement is side to side on the steering wheel.

bump....Any other ideas?
I know the 94-02 trucks had loose steering due to the steering columns, but didn't see anything on the 05's for the same issue.
