Ordered my electric fan conversion kit, plenum repair plate, and 50mm throttle body last night. Can anyone recommend a good reliable shift kit with part number? Wanting a little more snap when shifting. Also a good posi. Don't know which to get. So any recommendations would be appreciated. thanks in advance guys.

I have little knowledge on what your asking but I figured I could say what I've been told by several tranny shops and give your thread a bump... I was looking at putting a shift kit in my stock trannys and was told

Shift kits and messing with the valve body on these trannys (I only know about 46RE tranny) are both good ideas... except I've been told that if you still have your orginal tranny that it's not worth doing because the tranny has already worn the way it's gonna wear and given that this is a 2nd gen thread your tranny is most likly on one of it's last legs..

For example: took my truck in for a simple tranny service(tighten bands, new filter, etc) and long behold I had to rebuild my tranny on (01 with only 86,000 miles) because of metal clutch shavings and a busted metal snap O ring from the OD gear that were both stuck to the magnet in the pan

Again I know very little about this, so take my words with a grain of salt:)

Mine was rebuilt sometime in 07 I believe. The man I bought it from was the original owner. So it has all kinds of service papers. Complete rebuild is in the pile of service papers. Would you recommend another rebuild before I throw a shift kit in it?

How many miles on the rebuild? And was it done well? And why was the Jr shift kit not but in when it was rebuild?

It wasn't my truck in 07. I called the guy up when I got off. He told me no shift kit was added. The transmission actually shifts good. The rebuild held up great. I just want that little extra to my shifts whenever I put the pedal down.

DD94 loves his transgo jr kit. While you're at it check ball valve delete and just as well do the governor solenoid or do the master solenoid kit from cascade transmission. Thats just my .02

i did the transgo in my truck..it helped

Id suggest the check valve delete and a trans cooler if its not done already

As far as posi goes, i have a spicer limited slip locker in my truck with no complaints . Its quiet, reliable and my truck gets posi about 99% of the time...with no binding turning sharp corners on pavement

Not a high end unit....but i must say Ive been very happy with it

Thanks for all the replies fella's, and sorry for the late reply. Broke my phone the other day, then forgot I have a COMPUTER at my house that works just fine. Anyway, What is the check ball valve delete, and would a trans tech know about it? I'm going in at the end of next week to get my trans checked and serviced. If I bring them the shift kit and solenoids, would they handle the install? I mean, they gotta drop the pan anyway, so I don't see why they wouldn't be able to get the mods added..
