Shifter Cable

Have a 2010 Ram 1500 and the shifter cable appears to be broken. Had to unhook it and put it in reverse and drive underneath it to get it home (yes, there was someone in the driver's seat) Its a floor shift automatic. Has anyone had any experience with changing the cable? Is there any way to repair it? And, if not, where is the most economical place to get one? Thoughts? Thanks in advance.

If the cable end that connects to the transmission is that is broken, they make a repair kit

There are not any repair parts available to repair the shifter cable. It is very simple to replace though.

I normally see the cables for sale online anywhere from $66.00-$145.00 so take your time and do some research and you'll get a good one.

To get to the cable, you will have to do some of this;




If you see the Pink plastic pieces at the rear of the shifter;
That is what you would press down on when you need to move your vehicle when it will not start & you need to move it.
Pressing down on it will put the transmission in Neutral
You can see the access to it next to the Drive position, when the floor console is all together, it's a little plastic flap
