Ram Year
2017 Sport
Engine
5.7
Hey guys/gals. Hopefully this hasn't been beat to death but was looking for a little info if possible.

I currently own a 2017 Ram Sport with the 5.7 and I love it, minus the loud *** hemi. I've already had to deal with the broken exhaust manifold bolts and replaced them (3k outside of warranty) with JBA Shorty headers and now it sounds like a diesel under load with the lifters/valves/whatever ticking and clacking (no codes or loss of power, just loud and metalicky). I kinda want out of it. My problem is is Tundras look terrible, I like the Sierras but they are having major lifter/push rod issues with their 5.3 and 6.2 engines (6.2 AT4 is up there in my choices though), and haven't really looked into Ford yet. I do really like Ram, the features you get for the price, and think they are great looking trucks with great power.

So to my question. With me being away from here for a while, is there anything that has improved and been fixed since the Gen 4 Rams? Any issues still around and lingering and new issues with the Gen 5's? I have my eye on a few around my area and they all have the 12" screen, most have the panoramic sunroof, 4x4 obviously, 5.7, leather, etc.

is it the mds yes it’s awful. Not sure on the diesel effect, but yes that shudder is annoying. The 5th gen seems to be hit or miss. I have a buddy with a 19 and never 1 issue. It’s at almost 70k others have issues. It’s just with everything. Ford, Dodge, GM, Toyota. They all have their flaws. I will say this if I was going to jump ship and I was a Ford guy for 20 years, I would get the AT4. Second best looking truck on the road and they seem to be reliable from the things I read and people I know that own them.
