I have a 2019 Ram Limited. It has Sirus XM Travel Link installed. I have a problem with the radar image coming on the screen then back off within 10 seconds or so, stays off for 4 to 5 minutes, then back on for a few seconds and so on.
Anyone else having this problem.
All Sirus XM did was refresh the radio. Did not work

Sirius XM uses satelites that are quite far south and so even small hills will block reception. I have hills around my house that are only 100 feet above the roadway and it is enough to block the XM radio reception so it cuts out. At latitude 38 the Sirius XM reception sucks.

I have been in contact with SiriusXM and Uconnect about this unusable radar system. They don't offer any help except take the truck to the dealer. Dealer did a radio update a month ago and did no good
I can't believe there are not lots of people with this high dollar travel link system that are not satisfied with the weather map not working correctly.

BRFiel--2019 RAM with big screen having the same problems with radar that you are. Have been on the phone with Sirius twice for over a total of 3 hours--the radio has been refreshed 3 times and radar still not working right. Off to the dealer tomorrow but I do not have high hopes for that. Have you had any resolution? Had a 2016 RAM small screen and radar worked just fine.. Still have a 2014 Grand Cherokee--radar is OK there as well.

I have had no resolution as of November 19, 2020. I live 120 miles from my dealer so have not been there since July 2020. They did a radio update which did nothing for the problem

Well, took the RAM to the dealer on Thursday--they looked at the radio and checked what they could but didn't find any obvious problems. To their credit they said that they found other instances of the radar problem at other dealers but they don't have a fix. They asked me to leave the RAM with them as they want to open up a STAR case. Since I couldn't leave it that day I have scheduled another appointment in December where I will leave the RAM with them as long as needed for them to open the STAR case and investigate the problem. Will post after the next appointment.

Thanks very much for the information. I would not be able to leave my Ram at the dealer for any length of time, since I need the truck and am 120 miles from the dealer. Guess if it comes to leaving it I will not have a choice.
I am glad someone else is finally interested in trying to get this problem resolved. It apparently has something to do with the 12 inch screen system.
Hopefully Allison with RamCares will see your post and Ram as a company will get more involved.
I will be looking forward to your post in December

RAM went into the dealer on Thursday. They called today to say that they are investigating the problem but have not yet found a cause. They have started a STAR case on it and today have forwarded onto the engineers (wherever they may be) the information that they have garnered during their examination. Being a Saturday they don't expect any answers today. They said they will resume work on it on Tuesday and if they haven't yet fixed it they will do one or both of the following: a software fix and if that doesn't do it--a radio replacement. Keeping fingers crossed here.

Thanks for the information. Sure appreciate you keeping me up on this.
I wonder how many of these radios throughout the USA have the same issue?
Will be looking forward to what the dealer comes up with.
Thanks again

Hey RAM Cares--please pay attention. Just got a call from the dealer--there is at this time NO fix for the radar problem on the big screen. He says they are working on it but has no time frame for a solution. Paid lots of $$ for this option and I am not happy. The dealer suggests I check back with him and/or call Chrysler after a period of time (unspecified) to see if they have a fix. Guess I have no choice but to do that. You would think that maybe they would have discovered the problem and found a fix prior to releasing the big screen for installation in the RAM.

Thanks for the update. Yes, it is not just a small cost accessory that is in play here. I am for sure not happy and plan to let my dealer know about it. Please keep me informed of any progress and I will post any information I may get from my dealer

I took my Ram into the dealer on Thursday, January 7. The service department called the 800 number I had from Chrysler and used the case number I was given. They were told the issue is a SiriusXM problem, not Ram. Service department call SiriusXM and were given the run around. I was to get a call from SiriusXM on Friday for them to update me. No call just a survey about the previous days communication.
So Ram Cares hope you read this. Chrysler apparently doesn't care.
I am becoming a rather disappointed customer. Maybe should have stayed with Ford

I have been in contact with SiriusXM twice this week. Just got off the phone with a woman really trying to help find a solution to this weather map radar issue. I sent her photos of the image showing a snowstorm in Minnesota and then the image 20 seconds later that had no radar image of the storm. So she is escalating the issue to high ups.
Just wanted to update anyone who might be interested

Am I reading this right…? You’re blaming FCA for a map rendering issue with an obscure ancillary feature of a horrible weather app packaged with a third party subscription service that by the way all the other manufacturers offer with their vehicles?

I’m not sure what option you paid lots of $$ for, it’s just part of the Sirius subscription service. You don’t actually think you have a weather RADAR in your truck do you?

What in the world is your problem??
Chrysler Corporation put this radio in Ram trucks. They bought the system from SiriusXM as I understand it.
Yes, I paid lots of $$ for the Radio system, it did not come "free of charge". I feel Ram should be interested in making sure the system shipped with their trucks works as it should.
You apparently have not seen the weather map. It is a radar image of weather systems.
I make the remark about Ford, because I had a 2010 Ford F-150 with a very similar weather radar system that worked great.

Thanks for posting about this - I have the exact same problem - the Weather radar on the Siruis Travel Link App do not refresh or paste. It will paste the weather radar on a small portion of the screen and then, it will won't update for about 5 minutes. When it does refresh, it usually wipes the radar image off of the screen and leaves it blank. I like everything else about the Sirius XM system, just not this Travel Link App with the radar - it doesn't work at all - it was a waste of money. I will keep checking back with this website - if anyone gets a solution, please post it. Thanks.
