So I installed a Flowmaster Outlaw direct fit muffler on my 2014 1500 5.7L about 3 weeks ago. Initially it seemed as my MPG was dropping as well as my fuel gauge needle....lol. But now, 3 weeks later everything seems a little different. The trucks MPG is doing much better and increasing especially at low speeds driving around the streets and it seems like my idle sounds a little different but not to the point where its bad by any means. My question here is, does the ECU learn recognize the change in the exhaust system and adapt itself accordingly or am I just thinking way out of the box here??

Ha probably your foot was heavier than normal because that Hemi sounds so good, then you seen you were going through a crap ton of gas and started driving better...lol

I think most if not all fuel injected motors adjust fuel/air mixture with use. It has to be "smart" simply because of differing air temps throughout any year. That is the good and the bad of it, with carbs you adjust with a screw driver, so in this case it worked, but in some other cases sensors fail causing issues that would have been an easier fix.

I think it adjusts more from intake, but if that muffler increased flow I do bet it adjusted.
