Not sure what to do here. I am coming off a lease on my '18 BMW 5 series in December, but since my dealer sells both BMW and Dodge, they are willing to let me out early without penalty as of mid-August.

They have a the exact truck I want (minus the Ram boxes - jury still out on that) and they are offering like 10k off sticker, plus sell at invoice. My dilemma is, I won't lease this one. I'll buy and keep for several years, so I don't want to jump on this and wish I would have waited for the '21, as they are upgrading the Uconnect to the version 5, which offers a lot more in terms of tech - namely, wireless Apple Play, among other niceties.

So, I realize this is my decision, but any feedback would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Brad

My same thought. If you are going to buy you would be crazy to pass up that kind of mark down for some minor tech improvements.

I doubt the ‘21s will have uconnect 5, as the Rams usually follow suit after the Pacificas. Depending on what tech you like, the ‘21s will have trailer steering, heads up display on the windshield, cargo cam, digital rear view mirror, pedestrian emergency braking, and power folding tow mirrors with surround view as new features. You didn’t say what trim level you’re looking at, but 10k off is usually easily attainable on a limited.

Limited is what I'm after.

So, what is the difference between surround view and the 360 cameras, which it already has?

The ram is better. Jmo. I came from a 16 c63. My 18 isnt as nice but the 19s definitely are.

Edit: and it wont be worth 40% if your lucky in 3 years.

Yea, I took my wife out for a ride in the pictured Ram, and she said: "this is nicer than your car". And I had to agree!

Yea, but I love my BMW. I'm in no big hurry to part ways...

No I hear ya, that is sweet. It's just that if you're over miles, have worn tires, brakes, etc.. and can still get out of it free and clear, it may be the time.

I know I've done that with Honda and Subaru leases in the past. Pick out a vehicle on their lot to work a deal on, then tell them if you get me out of my lease free/clear, I'll buy that today.

Well, the car only has 22K miles and is pretty much perfect. But I know that won't buy me much at the end of the lease. And, they have been sitting on this truck for several months, and I think they are motivated to move it. I will call them tomorrow and see where things go.

This is my 3rd consecutive BMW. Prior to that, only GM trucks, but these new Ram trucks have completely whooped my ass - I have to have one!

Thanks, everyone for the feedback!!

Same thing, except 19-20 didn’t have surround view if you had tow mirrors. Just letting you know what new features there are so you’re not kicking yourself if there were any you were interested in.

If you want wireless carplay, it is pretty much pointless. You have an iPhone which are notorious for **** battery life, so you are plugging your phone in half the time anyways.
I would take the savings on the truck now rather than wait age pay alot more for a few minimal pieces of tech.

Well, the new Ram's have wireless drop-in charging, so the bad battery life is no longer an issue. But thanks for the feedback, that's why I am asking questions...

I've had 3x Rams since 2013 and wanted the ramboxes on all 3 but didn't get it due to deals on what was on the lot.... Currently have a 2018 Laramie CC (with all the limited options).

I've regretted not holding out for them every ... single.. time. (Added a 'swing box' to mine which helps)

M² Mods.

Yeah I know they have it, and I'll admit I haven't tried it in the ram, but I haven't found a wireless charger yet that works well through a hd phone case. So I automatically disregard that feature. If it works well through a hd case, that would be awesome

From a purely financial perspective the best course of action is to buy out the lease and sit tight for the time being.

The real economy is tanking and Covid-19 is rapidly spreading throughout the USA and no one really knows the long term outcome of this crash.

Personally I am not going to buy a new truck until 2021 at the earliest and probably not until 2022 or 2023. I have a 2011 2500 diesel and would like to have a 1500 with the V-6 but I can live very well with what I currently own and I paid cash when I bought it.

With a new truck my DMV fees would increase by at least $1000 a year and my auto insurance woudl increase by as much as well. I would also be paying $5,000 in sales tax and fees on the new truck. So the cost of the switch is well over $8,000 regardless of what I pay for the 1500 and the rest is all smoke and mirrors.
