So I just got an I3

OK so I'm trying to get my mods as cheap as possible because I'm broke, not cheap. This is what I did.
Got a used pcm from eBay for $100. Got an i3 shipped from Diablo with their pcm swap for $422 (military discount). So that's less than $550.

Now I saved more than enough to get a custom tune. I'm leaning towards Greene but if some has had both (hemifever & Greene) and can direct me, please do

Pretty sweet deal. I should look for a pcm like that.

I got it through eBay using the "ebates" app (you get a percentage cash back) and I had the eBay 20% coupon during their daylight savings run. LKQ was the seller and they have more at $138

The Jay Greene vs. Hemifever tune issue has been discussed to death here. Either guy gives good service and provides great tunes. Neither does any better, or worse, than the other. There are lots of supporters of both gents here.

One thing to note... Hemifever is a supporting vendor here and it would be nice to support all the vendors who support us here at RamForum.

Good luck with your choice.

I'd much rather support one of our vendors but I also want the best possible tune. This is why I asked advice from people who've had both.

Thanks. Seems like about half the guys load tunes on their trucks with no problems, and the other half have difficulties with updates, loading the tunes, units freezing up, etc. Not sure if its the programmer, or operator errors.

Is that the i2 or the i3?

From what I've seen/read its any of them, i2 i3 t-1000 T2. Just looking between here and diablo's forums. Not a lot of info out yet on the i3 and T2 as they were just released a few months ago.

Best possible tune? You'll have to define that for us. Generally we pick one or the other. Very few of us here, if any, have used both. Seems to me you end up spending money you don't need to if you do so.

My point was you can't go wrong with either tuner. There may be small differences in how they tune but at the end of the day, you get a good tune.

I've had both and if I had to buy one of them again i'd go Greene. Better support, and car just felt overall better.

Perfect. I knew there was a few of you guys out there. Can you explain in more detail why you felt the Greene tune was better?

I have had both also. I only use Greene now due to personal reasons. The current 4th gen 1/4 mile list is largely dominated by Jay Greene tuned trucks and has been for some time. Myself, I MUCH prefer Jay for customer service, quality of tunes & some pretty bad personal experiences I had w/ Hemifever quite a few yrs ago.

I suggest contacting both. Have a personal and professional conversation w/ them and pick the 1 that you feel best about

Thank you. I spoke to both when I decided I was going that route. Both seemed like good guys over the phone. To me, at this point, it'll go by who provides the better quality product

I have had both in the past and never had any problems with either. That said, my new 2017 crew cab 3.92 is running 13.55@100mph with a Green tune and Mufflex.

I've also had both. My Hemifever tune would idle rough almost stall with a spartan cam. My Greene tune made it idle like stock.

Count me in as also having both. Started with HF, overall was much improved over stock but had a bad throttle bounce on light acceleration (think cruising 50mph with pedal slightly depressed and a constant vroom vroom vroom that required stepping into the gas to force a shift). Sean was more than willing to try to resolve it and sent me 4 updated tunes. None got rid of it.

Decided to give Jay a try and his first tune ran much better and just all around felt better from idle up to the top. I've stuck with Jay and he just updated my tune for a cam. Without any logging the tune runs great.

Jay has called me at 11:45 at night to discuss things and just to chat. Jay is writing tunes for over 2,700 of us and counting. Have no idea about Sean so that number may not mean a whole lot...lol

Bottom line, these guys have dedicated their lives to all of us enthusiasts and I'm thankful for both of them. For me personally I've had a better experience with Jay. No disrespect towards anyone, just my individual experience.
