So what about badges?

The truck I bought had all the badges covered with some kind of rubbery black goop. PITA to remove with GooGone and scraping. I have seen a couple of trucks on the road since with similar treatment. I like the badges, think they look sharp. What is the backstory on "De Badging"?

New or I'd have put the tag line in my title!

Badges come off of all of my trucks. I just don't like them. I don't think there is a story behind it, just your own taste.

Rubber eraser wheel takes that foam tape off really easy. This one gets great reviews on Amazon and is a fraction of the cost of a 3M setup. I used this one recently to remove the badges from my truck. Just have to make a pass with some alcohol after to remove the residue.

Is the "goop" covering the whole badge smoothly, or is it just splattered? If it's smooth it's likely Plasti-Dip that was used to black out the badge.

I would remove and replace with new. You could get chrome, or order color match paint and match to body color.

I prefer to keep the badges. Better for resale if needed.

For reasons explained on other threads, and my screen name, I have considerable affection for the Hemi badge. Old style, old guy, there you have it!
I also like the HEMI badge , I removed all the badges off the sides & put the Hemi badge on the tailgate.
My truck is a Express, so had no badge like the higher trims, I wanted to balance out the 4x4 badge which I like too.

I really like that look, I might have to steal your idea.

I also keep the badges, the only thing I take off is the “dealership badge/ sticker “ it doesn’t belong on my trucks ! I own a 17 limited and a 25 rebel, no dealership sticker!!
Exactly this. I’ve never been offered royalties or a discount at purchase for free advertisement. I’ not your mobile billboard so get your signage off my truck!!

that reminds me of a lifetime ago, when i worked at a Alfa Romeo shop (really, more race prep then anything else)
anyway, we had bought a car (a 155 or 156, i dont recall) from a different dealer WITH the stipulation there would be no dealer badges on the car

this particular dealer had a bad habit of drilling holes in the panel and putting clips on the back of his badges, like they did back in the day

sure enough, when the car showed up it had a badge on the trunk

by the time my boss got done with the whole deal the dealer had bought us a new trunklid for that car
