So what about badges?

I have the Minotaur badges which I love. You can’t get them anywhere but I was able to get the CAD file from the manufacturer so I have been able to print my own replacements.

For reasons explained on other threads, and my screen name, I have considerable affection for the Hemi badge. Old style, old guy, there you have it!
On my 69 Roadrunner, I kept the 383 hood emblems after I swapped in the Hemi. Nothing against the Hemi badge, it was just more fun that way.

Badges come off of all of my trucks. I just don't like them. I don't think there is a story behind it, just your own taste.

Rubber eraser wheel takes that foam tape off really easy. This one gets great reviews on Amazon and is a fraction of the cost of a 3M setup. I used this one recently to remove the badges from my truck. Just have to make a pass with some alcohol after to remove the residue.
I hate badges on my rides. Having a background in the automotive industry, I always questioned the value of badges. Honestly I never believed what the Marketing folks used to say about how buyers valued having a stupid huge badge on their vehicle. I always thought they were lying. Especially if it didn't have anything to do with performance.

I don't mean to hijack the thread but do most of you feel the same way about window decals?

I see the "station wagons" and/or "vans" that have all the state stickers plastered all over them from every state the owner has vacationed in. Five or six bumper stickers always adds a little class too-----LOL-
Jay
I just saw an episode of M*A*S*H where the Colonel was complaining about someone putting so many stickers he could t see where he was going...only where he had been

The only window anything I have displayed is the required, now in TX the Dual Registration/Inspection sticker. I do not do any paste on decals, or any bumper junkola advertisements, ne thing. Of course, for years, had to have the mandatory Military base entrance stickers but now those not required, so just REG sticker, that's all. I even cut out the "dealer" name on the LP frames. I do have wateva badging is on the truck, but it is a low end Biggyhorn, not got all the stuff the higher trim had, just RAM on sides and 4 X 4 on rear and of course the Hood apparel and the big RAMS' head on the tailgate.

I've debadged every new vehicle that I've owned since the 80's (2020 Ram). I debadge used vehicles on a case by case basis (depends on age and owner). I wanted to debadge my daughter's new 2018 Mazda 3 when she bought it. I explained my reasoning and she called Bull$hit (her 1st car). I respected that, but have beat her up every time I've had the wash the car - we won't go there.

I particularly hate the decals. They are OK when new but look ratty after a few years. By that time the paint has aged and will look like crap if you remove the decal.

I did take a DEEP breath before I ground the white 240Z door emblem off my 72 (orange car). Car was 15 years old, rusted, and needed a lot of love. In the end, I was much happier after the repaint with no tape or badges.

Emblems can be OK, but they're a pain to wax around. New waxes do make things easier.

We purchased a '25 Camry for the better half late last year. I debadged with the Boss's approval. I have some limited influence since I'm the maintenance crew.

My mom’s favorite show when I was young, I have seen all the seasons multiple times, but don’t recall the episode.
In no way doubting you, my memory certainly is improving with age.

Okay. So MY hate is the addition of the HUGE chrome Ram letters on the later tailgate. Yes, it’s a Ram but you don’t need to see that from 10miles away! Horrible and according to posts here, if you remove them you have holes to deal with. They are a terrible replacement for the rams head that was there previously. Chrome ones on black are the worst……..sorry if that’s you, mine is white with chrome and I don’t like those either. I have thought about getting white overlays for them but don’t know how that would look. I might try some white electricians tape to see.

There is always reflective tape - turn a curse into a passive safety "blessing".
