66gwc reported no noticeable psi either way with that set up, good upgrade for these hemi's imo. Not a bypass, just a double filter.

I gained about 1 or 2 psi at hot idling temps Mike. Truck hot idles at 51/52 psi operating pressure depending on engine rpm is between 55 to 57 psi with 5W-30 Redline. The biggest change was the oil temps, they're a good 10 degrees lower then they were with the stock filter set-up,and a good 5 degrees lower then they were with the old single remote set-up.The trucks had a couple oil filter set-ups,but the dual remote set-up seems to be the best set-up i've had on it so far.

I took care of the insufficient filter media surface area problem, lol.

Also ran this same set-up close to 40 years ago on my old 68Z when i was a kid:waytogo:

Gotta love a true enthusiast!!! I never had or made time for that degree of enthusiasm, but appreciate it. Gone are the days when our guys would bring in their concoctions on the weekends to work on 'em. Megacorporation bought out our medium size company and sterilized it - no fun allowed. Glad I'm retired, unfortunately.

Truck hot idles at 51/52 psi operating pressure

Did I read this right that your warm idle oil pressure is around 51 psi? That's even higher than mine. I run an RP 20-820 and my warm idle pressure is around 47 psi.

Hemimann feels this is too high ... but I'm confused I thought higher oil pressure was a good thing for these hemis?

My warm idle is 35 psi with Fram Ultra Synthetic Oil Filter, PUP 0W-40. The poster that changed oil filters between RP & FU using the same oil noted a +5psi engine oil pressure at idle and operating speed from RP oil filter. That's all I know.

My warm idle was similar, I normally use the Fram XG as well, although I had a K&N filter at one point. When I switched to the RP filter the warm idle oil pressure jumped to 47ish.

Just trying to figure this out, and hopefully help others too. My truck has a host of issues lol so I try to take care of her.

In the interest of the original topic I use Redline 5W30 because my truck has 125K miles with extremely high idle hours and was a fleet vehicle.

FWIW the Haynes manual for 5.7 hemi specifies a low psi of 4 at curb idle (which seems awfully low to me!) and an operating pressure of 25 to 110 @3000 rpm. On the highway mine runs around 52-54 psi

I just run plain pyb with the mopar filter in the warm months and switch to 5w20 synthetic ( any of the decent ones and there are many ) for the winter with a wix xp filter. My thing is I never go lower than 50% on the change interval. Mine ticked new, but after a few short changes it was quiet. Considered going 0w20 since I see -40 on occasion, but I may see plus 10c in the same interval so I stuck with the 5w20.

The dual filters brought my hot pressures up a few psi, less pressure drop across the pair of them then you'd have across a single filter. They're also the big old style PH8 filters, common to the early Fords and Mopars way back when

Anyone know about how well Rotella for gas trucks works with the hemi? 5.7 with 153k and she’s still quiet for now. I am using the RP filter and pressure always 50-56 no matter what temp or rpm. Does Rotella for gas have good moly level?

My heart is still there, but my body isn't. Too much youthful violence has crippled me up pretty good, and my sons are out of the nest, so infrequently available. So I virtually dream. I do plan to add a deer-mangler to the front end and a shop install ARH headers, though.

This my first vehicle (besides the boat) that uses synthetic. I'm going strictly by the book. Read your OM, look for under hood stickers, I would NOT recommend additives. Just get the oil specs & buy from Walmart I am told... NOT from auto parts stores. FOLLOW the SPECS!!!! I was always a fan of good pressure at idle though. If they recommend a thicker oil or a thinner, go with the thicker.

Hmmm....I wonder who's running the org now? (Helix, Fiat Spec, etc.).

Stir in Peugeot and they'll have Chrysler "all fixed". Even better than Daimler-Benz did.

Just fine, on the stat sheet is looks like a QSUD clone (both shell products), one of the few oils with high moly and good boron. One of the best noack's I've seen on a shelf oil, maybe a mistake, lol. Here is pqia on it, top oil for hemi for sure.

Olive oil doubled pressed from Spain is my favorite, when not available I'll go for Greece or the the Italian ones, all in that order. Yummies.:)

As another data point I logged some info a couple of weeks ago and posted in another thread so this is a copy and paste... "my idle speed is stock. 560-570rpm rigth now idling hot. ECT 203F, IAT 122F, engine oil pressure 43psi. Goes to 49 if I set my idle at 750rpm. Castrol Synth 5w30 with the Mopar oil filter."

I've been doing my oil changes with same oil and Mopar filter every 7-9k miles (whenever the change oil light is tripped in my dashboard) since I bought the truck used in July 2018.
Another reference I have the 4 cyl stuff disabled in my tune. Same period of time.
