Well folks, one less unit in the fleet after today. My flame red 89k mile crew cab 4x4 Laramie has found a new home. Was offered more than I could say no to and had to part ways. Bad news about the deal is, I'm on the other side of the USA from my home base so I've got to figure out how to transverse the 1889 miles back home. May hertz or avis have a option??

I had done a few upgrades recently that went with the truck but all in all I'm pleased with the price.

Looks like it's time to start planning for a 2026 with the potential revival of the hemi. Maybe, if Ram follows through could get a 1500 with a 6.4 directly from the factory.

More to come...

Farewell old friend

Congrats!
Where did you find the paint matched mirror covers? Did you just have the chrome ones painted?? Same for the grill or aftermarket?

I've heard if ya wrap your clothes into a large handkerchief and tie the bunle onto the end of a stick, the word is you can get a free train ride... Let them know you're homeward bound. he he

:)

..just kidding...sorry, I couldn't resist :)

Have you checked flights? You could call the rental agencies. Maybe they have a car in your current market they'd like to get back to a market (closer) to where you live (where the car is from??). Long shot, but a few phone calls won't hurt.

Color matched mirrors were ordered directly from MA Mopar via Benny @AllMoparParts.com . No covers for this guy replaced entire mirror. Sent him my VIN and he did the rest.

Grill was sourced via local wrecking yard from a rear ended 16 sport in the correct flame red color.

Free train ride might be a better option. Given I'm traveling with my wife and grandson plus her dog and I sold the truck. I might actually be safer hoboing across country. Afraid to go to sleep, might wind up unalived. To say she's upset with my actions is an understatement.....

UHAUL always pays ppl to drive trucks.
I often see New York & Pennsylvania trucks out here in Southern California.
When there is enough on the wrong side of the US, they want them back near to where the Tags are registered.
You might get lucky

Interesting about the grill. My 16 Sport has the chrome slats in it OEM. (but I do have the same grill as yours upstairs in my garage incase I want to change up the look.)

It could have been changed on the salvage vehicle I brought it from. I was more interested in the grill type and color vs what it came off of. I didn't spend much time Verifying options or vehicle specifics.

Interesting decision being so far from home with family.

Money talks, BS walks. Enterprise came thru with a rental car (Ford explorer)1 way for a little over $500. Cannot complain about outcome
