Big reason I own a 2wd truck is I do not go off roading and do not really need 4wd. Now if I went off roading then I would most definitely get a 4wd truck, but for now I am very satisfied with what I own. :head3:

Never thought about it during purchase. For my mods i now wish i knew about awd being an option for 04 models but she has done me proud for the last 10 years. That said the truck has see her fair amount of dirt roads in that time.

I have 4WD and like having it. I don't use it often, but when I've needed it, I've really needed it.
Some thoughts:
When buying new, you pay more for it. However, at least around here, 4WD's hold their value better and you end up getting a lot back on trade-in.

When buying used, there are some really good deals on 2WD. So much so, that I am considering buying another Hemi truck with 2WD. I'd like to leave the 4WD stock as it is, and mod the 2WD like crazy. Different mods than a 4WD. I'm talking lowering, wider rear tires, performance boost. Like a street legal drag truck. Mods I wouldn't consider on a 4WD.

2WD or 4WD are different animals, but both really cool.

I kind of wanted a 4x4, more for what it could do than for what I needed. I got a really good deal on my 2wd and I love it. Yes it slips a bit on the snow but we have 2 4x4 SUVs if the weather is bad. We tow a travel trailer and the 2wd has a bit more towing capacity than the same model 4x4 due to it's lighter weight. So, it just depends on what you need it for. I suspect for a lot of people it's just more "bad-ass" to have a 4x4.

Not too mention the riceburners in their fart pipe equipped "cars" looking into their mirrors and crapping their pants when all they see is tires.

I have a 4wd for two reasons: Alberta winters and I can launch like a ************ at the track. I would own a 2wd in a heartbeat since I love lowered trucks and it's SOOO much easier in a 2wd, however I currenly only have parking available for 2 vehicles, my truck and the wife's car, so I needed 4wd to handle the snow drifts aand poor road conditions. I've run several 2wd in the winter before, but the 4wd just makes it easier, especially going through 2ft snow drifts to get to my parking stall.

I have had both, years ago I had 4x4s to take out in the mud hole/bog every weekend. This particular truck I have now was THE only one I found that was in great shape for a good price [it just happened to be a 4x4] and yes I lifted it it's getting mud tires but it'll never be in a mud hole!!

Just get you some aggressive ATs.

I'm running 285/75s with no lift.

Over the years I've had a few 4x4's so I completely understand how much or how little I need one and without a doubt I don't need nor want one. The closest I get to going off road is my gravel driveway. Red is a asphalt Queen, I don't even like to tow anything with her.
